its not

Because it isn't about Jews and incest.

you forgot the echo

>song against sex starts playing

anybody who actually listens to them beyond two headed boy and the title track of aeroplane would definitely disagree

it's not, but Everything Is, Ferris Wheel on Fire, and Little Birds (the single) definitely are

Everything Is is pretty bad though.

It's not memey enough. Any fan of NMH's actual music acknowledges it's easily the better album.

I dunno. OAI has most of NMH's best tracks (April 8th, Three Peaches, Gardenhead, Song Against Sex) but I'd argue that ITAOTS is a more consistently great listen.

>no Naomi

i'd bet it'd be talked about even less if they never made ITAOTS

According to spotify Everything is is in the album

the song or the EP? cause the 7 track version of the EP is pretty damn perfect.

what does this sentence even mean?

cause it came out in 2011 kind of under the radar, and not enough people are aware of its existence since it doesn't seem to be on any streaming services

Only real answers in this thread. Tiotas gets it power, like most great new sincerity art, from being painfully awkwardly earnest and therefore boarding on powerful and laughable

AND NOW FIRST OF AAAALLLL
WE BECAME WHAT WE ALWAYS HAD FEEEEEEEEARED

when i come arou- i mean, 'my dream girl don't exist' is the best tho

Interesting choice to consider the worst song to be the best.

Ferris Wheel on Fire > I Will Bury You in Time > Engine > Oh Sister > Baby for Pree/Grow Into You > Home > Dream Girl

i just wanted to make a joke about how the chord progression is the same as 'When I Come Around' by green day, even though I think it predates dookie and i doubt green day knew who the fuck jeff was before itaots

Oh. Carry on then.

I will say tho, i'd maybe put engine first, but i'm biased cause the first time i saw jeff play was like at a barn and after his set we all went outside and he played it as if t'were a campfire singalong

It's not the same chord progression but it progresses in the same way if that makes sense. Idk about music theory enough to explain it but basically Dream Girl is When I Come Around in a lower key

oh yeah, but also that's just cause his guitar was usually tuned down a bit. and obvi the strumming pattern's a little different. it's just one of those things i can't unhear lol

Sounds nice. Engine is a good pick regardless though.

Yeah it hits the same timbre and everything but lots of songs have the same progressions. It is funny though to pair Jeffs solemn poetry with Billie Joe's mediocrity

To be fair, When I Come Around is a pretty fun song. One of the few Green Day tunes I can stomach.

Absolutely, they're both fun to play on guitar. Green Day when they were still young had some really really catchy tunes, Welcome to Paradise come to mind, but that's about the best thing you can say about them.

They're fun I just wish they'd given up 20 years ago

The album has 5 absolute bangers
-the opening suite
-WYFMW
-Gardenhead / Leave Me Alone
-Naomi
-Everything Is (depending on which pressing you got. Or if you listen digital.)
Gardenhead and Naomi are certain contenders for my favorite NMH song

Shannon's Monroe House Demos. The BEST thing Jeff Mangum ever did. I think this upload is missing one or two tracks.
