It's a really cool album, and very consistent. Never understood why people prefer Songs but they're both great regardless
>One of his professors from the university was the French philosopher Alain Badiou, who would originate the title of the new album, We Must Become the Pitiless Censors of Ourselves. Maus wrote the album in "search for the perfect pop song." It included a cover version of Swedish singer-songwriter Molly Nilsson's "Hey Moon", which he described as "just banality, but like any great pop song, it’s much more than that. That’s what I was going for, to find something that was unassailable on all fronts, from a pop standpoint. Becoming the 'pitiless censor' myself."

Please stop poting my wife.

>hey moon
>it’s just you and me tonight
>everyone else is asleep
>hey moon
>if was to fall, I won’t falls so deep
>though I doubt, I’m gonna
>you can wake me up, if you wanna
>Though I doubt I'm gonna
>You can wake me up if you wanna
>I would hate for you to hang there alone
>The whole night through
>Hey moon
>My old friend
>Hey moon
>The night is coming to and end
>Hey moon
>Come back soon
Fuuuuuuuuuuuccckkkkkk

he looks like he fucks black guys

having read badiou's fifteen theses's on art several times, can anyone redpill me on what he's trying to get at
t. brainlet

you forgot the best line

MDE never dies

Never got it either. There's quite a lot of filler on Songs imo. Pitiless Censors and Unreleased Material is clearly his best work.

you forgot he didn't write this song, molly nilson did

What's your favourite John Maus track lads? For me, it's The Law.

none of the posts you quote implied that

yeah the post with the lyrics of the song totally doesn't imply he wrote the lyrics, dumbshit.

This is my fav Maus track. I saw him 2 months ago in Dallas.

you're probably smoking too much

that performance is so good yo. seeing him on stage all by himself starting the set with "my whole world is coming apart" wrecks me, considering what he went through in 2018.

I get the same feeling dude. Considering that Joe passed its amazing that he didnt cancel this gig but instead powered through like a trooper even though none of us expected this of him.

John Maus is truly the artist we need but don't deserve

I want to post in this thread so I can vent out my frustration: John Maus was going to play live in Mexico City for the first time (I think) but he cancelled a couple of hours before.

It wasn't his fault, I'm sure. No one ever said what exactly happened, nor John nor the venue. They just said "health problems". Maybe it was something related to his brother. It's so sad what happened, I would be so depressed.

rights for gays
oh yeah

but who tf is this little girl with john? she's creeping me the FUCK out!

Only the angels heralding the trumpets of doom can make music sweet enough for me to hear.

Post favorite Maus performances.

The one where he has visuals playing in one screen and you can see the OS when he's playing Keep Pushing On.

TAKE A TAKE A RIDE WITH SHAKIRA

Hey, is that the "Rights for Gays" guy? That ditty really got me questioning my homophobia and stuff.

Dude I’m in this thread trying to “get” it like I’ve been trying for ages, and I just fucking don’t. I don’t mean this judgmentally, I’m glad you find value in the songs—but this track sounds just absolutely terrible to me. At best, it’s like a bizarre, stupid satire.

I like Hey Moon and I’m really not here to bash on Maus, I just don’t think I’ve ever understood an artist’s appeal less. The live show posted here doesn’t help, I can barely even tell the songs apart, and the arrangements seem hookless and messy.

If anyone can explain this guy to me, I’ll really try to be receptive. People love him SO MUCH. I just want to know why, even if I don’t enjoy him myself.

THEY CALL IT A MENTAL BREAKDOWWWNNNN

damn im cringe for not going to that

Maybe this interview can help you
theguardian.com/music/2011/nov/12/john-maus-interview
In short: John Maus makes medieval music with synths, that's why, for example, he ads lots of reverb to his voice, to make it sound like he's in a huge church or temple
It kind of annoys me that you like one of his least "medieval" songs
now I'm interested in knowing what music you like and where are you from
His lyrics are exaggerated, simplistic and sometimes outrageous, I think it's because he wants to find meaning in trivial things, I don't really know for sure, but take a look at this: azlyrics.com/lyrics/johnmaus/ihatemusic.html
"Pets" has that effect in me because it reminds me of certain cat that died, it makes me imagine I'll maybe see him again in heaven, something like that, and that reminds me I'm going to die as well

Also, some of his lyrics and his demeanor reveal that he's a nice guy, even kind of innocent or dummy. That makes people "love him so much", because he seems sympathetic, he seems like a nice person, a likeable person, and he actually is.

It's good
Fuck Sam Hyde

Haha why man? Because he doesnt shill out enough content or because he ruined WP?

for me its real bad job
