I think rap can be a tool to be genuine with or just for fun whether yer genuine or not, idk man. Most of my favourite rap artists aren't gangster per se, unless they hide it lol.

I write music for my autistic childhood sci-fi story I used to imagine. Mostly "battle" music and some ambient stuff.

This piece is for the main character's wife who died a few years after he did on a mission to destroy and enemy superweapon, I was on the train the morning after I imagined her death and depressed over some IRL stuff so I remember looking out at the gray sky thinking about her friend, her husband's mentor, going home and realizing she was really truly gone, which mirrored some stuff in my own life so it inspired me to write this piece.

I like the sound of the bass and nu-80s vibe going on. I presume it is sample-based from the arrangement and the slight variations between each edit.

Look again at the beat matching of the two different samples from 1:18 - 1:28, as they aren't quite in phase. Either cut each beat and align while zoomed in or adjust the time stretch until it fits. Other than that, sounds very accurate in style and moody. Very cool!

Agree with that it is just a very good loop on its own. However you can mess around with editing each beat and swapping them around, or going French and add filters/flanger/phaser to it. Thicc feedback if you're going with a phaser. Well mixed though and very groovy. but only the start of something bigger.

Using guitars in electronic music is a big winner, but needs to be done right. I think the guitar tone is spot on but needs to be very predominant and bright, as otherwise the rhythms and notes are hard to make out. Stereo widening is the secret there, but listen for phasing issues when the track is mono summed. The sound design is great, but just watch that the drums aren't being lost in the mix.

After 2:45 or so the arrangement kinda goes nowhere. The energy isn't lifted off to then build it back, instead just kinda stays with this bassy mess with nothing really changing. I'd cut and paste the section from 3:28 to 3:48 into 0:50, then remove the long middle section from 1:27 to 3:05. Cut the bass and let the track breath in whatever way you see fit, then continue from 4:09 - your main hook. Then wrap it up easy.
