All great stuff I remember discussing on gamefaqs music board in 2004 (except the Horrors)

The early 2000s was a weird place post 9/11. Musically speaking. MTV was starting to not show music videos. But MTV2 still showed music videos and music countdowns. Despite emo being big with kids the radio never really played it, it was more i favor of nu metal and post grunge. At the same time the rise of internet piracy was occurring. Radiohead was one of the first bands to embrace the internet and internet marketing. Rap was sort of meh, as it turned into some sort of machine that churned out one hit wonders called ringtone rap. But there were guys like em and outkast and 50 cent. You would get bands like daftpunk and gorlliaz marketing themselves during toonamie. Pretty smart to be honest. I would say things like nu metal and angry rock were on the wane but still had staying power, because the early 2000s is basically LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOORRRRR. Also all the hipsters were like into the strokes and the killers and stuff like that. Mr.brightside was a monster. They played that shit all the time on MTV. This was also the golden age of anime music videos, back when liking anime meant you were werid and a nerd among nerds.

The late 2000s was the decline of emo and garage rock revival. Youtube was invented in 2006, the beginning of social media and streaming, Smart phones appear in 2007.
Apple worship gets huge as steve jobs creates his cult of personality. Indie gets big after bands start selling out and thier music gets put in car and ipod commercials.

Also early kanye

the decade ends with the world economy crashing and obama being elected

America died on 9/11. It took a while for normies to realize it, hence the still positive spirit of mainstream music during the early/mid 2000's.

Attack on Titan aired.

Early 00's was also the time when they were trying to push Boybands and pop punk a LOT, with the alternative being the leftover Fred Durst, Papa Roach, Linkin Park stuff. Then there were all the side bands from broken up 90s groups.

What’s Yea Forumss opinion on Jack White?
