Gotten into brazilian jazz lately. Deodato's albums are amazing. Loved Walter Wanderley's album Rainforest too. Does anyone have good suggestions for brazilian jazz ?

It’s odd, I love this album... but I’d say it’s only a 7/10. Others are better, in my opinion
Ornette Coleman - Shape of Jazz
McCoy Tyner - Expansions
Sam Rivers - Contours
Are three that spring to mind.
More to follow

these are only 8/10

wouldn't go as far as to say 10/10 but it is a solid 7.5. Don't know why a lot of people here hate it

To scattered for me to say it's perfect, but certainly innovative and pretty revolutionary, even if it doesn't really get recognized as such

you might like this user. abbey's vocals may be rough, but the line up is stellar

Yeah holy shit that's a lineup

Pretty much the same reason people hate Schumann in the classical world. Kind of trashy and extremely popular with common audiences because of how melodic and simple it is.

Bill Evans - Interplay

Tsuyoshi Yamamoto - Blues For Tee

It's great to see jazz threads coming up regularly

Yeah you probably never would have found out about that album if it hadn’t been for him huh?

A friend recced me this and I really wanted to like it but it was pretty bad desu

i cried once listening to this

Lol I sure hope I would have, but I really don't see many people in my friend group or online give it the attention it deserves. Mr scruffy is pretty pompus imo, but I'm willing to recognize that he's got some unique and good tastes, much more so then a Mr fantano or Pitchfork. Now I try to avoid the critics tho, because I feel like it influences my opinion too much.
