cure but both are bad

it depends on how gay i feel

Both really gay

The Cure. The Smiths kind of suck.

robert smith hates morrissey because morrissey is the actual embodiment of the whininess and everything associated with him

The Smiths

Was Morrissey gay?

which one's gayer

also, OP here and as of late i think i enjoy the cure more, they seem more like true artists whereas the smiths is just johnny being a great guitarist and morrissey being a whiny baby

yes, just in the closet. he's come out as bi basically, was in a relationship with a man not so long ago

when did he ever do anything sexual with a woman?

>Was Morrissey gay?

some songs seem to at least hint at it, i expect he's probably had sex with a woman once or twice

Smiths obviously
The cure has nice compositions as a whole
Smiths are just really good verses and catchy choruses
i prefer the cure too, but they are both great

yeah i definitely like the cure's actual musical component better

smiths have some really catchy stuff but i think the cure's lyrics are more conventially structured and probably a bit deeper than mozza's

morrissey seems to sing out of sync with rhythms often, and is really straightforward lyrically imo leaves nothing for the imagination really but he is a good poet and really has a way with words

smiths seems more "fake sad" to me in some ways sometimes whereas the cure is more laid back and more sardonic

morrissey is gay in the good way, smith is gay in the bad way

The Smiths is both gayer and better desu

even though i like the cure better i think robert is a little more cringe than morrissey

The Smiths easily. The Cure are okay at best.

I dunno, I think the cure has a much better discography overall maybe? they put out more material. morrissey kinda sucked without johnny also

think the smiths might have a more iconic sound but they just have less material to work with and less of an artistic legacy

Honestly I think the Cure were ahead of their time and had a pretty interesting experimental sound. Have you dug deep into their discography or just heard the singles?

The Smiths are good, but they're a one trick pony. Their music is hollow "woe is me" teenage melancholy in every song. I love their sound, but I can only take them in small doses.

The Cure conveys a wide range of emotions. Their music can be playful/weird, trippy/psychedelic, melancholy, and even angry. The Cure feel more raw and visceral.

fpbp

I’ve listened to many of their albums but none of them really have stuck with me except for Seventeen Seconds. For the Smiths Albums, I love all of them. Johnny Marr is an amazing guitarist.

Which albums? The Cure are so versatile.

>The Smiths are good, but they're a one trick pony.

Thanks. This is what I was trying to say about the smiths (OP here). Their songs are so same-y that it gets boring listening after a few times.

The Cure has more replay value and actual substance to me, both instrumentally and lyrically (moreso because the lyrics are actually structured like songs rather than mozz's rambling type vocals probably)

Johnny is a great guitarist, I'll give him that. But one thing about the cure i like is their use of extra instrumental layers and stuff rather than just jangly guitar.

Sometimes johnny is hit or miss though, and he's kind of made quite a few filler licks imo. Same with Moz, he seems to have made a ton of really shitty songs lyrically that are just cringe.

Reminder that Robert hits the big 6-0 today.

Oh shit, he was born 2 days after me. Is he really 60? Damn. Based Robert.

Happy late birthday u little faggot

Thanks bro :)

the smiths hands down. they were songwriting geniuses.

smiths
fuck robert smith and fuck meat eaters

based

both of them are good, but as some have said the cure is way more versatile and smith's a better lyricist

>Robert Smith
>Isn't in the Smiths
>Actively dislikes and feuds with the frontman of the Smiths

You can't make this shit up.

>Morrissey
>Is gay and needs to find the cure (to gayness)
>Isn't in the Cure

The Cure is based but bluepilled
The Smiths are cringe but redpilled

it's the other way around

The Smiths are very personal to me. I only really like Disintegration. A no brainer for me.

Disintegration is probably my favorite cure song. But if you mean the album, they have at least like 2 or 3 other good ones

I don't know how someone can like Disintegration but not at least enjoy some of Faith and Bloodflowers.

Three Imaginary Boys is good like front to back. Seventeen Seconds too, and The head on the door. Wish is okay. I haven't listened to any of their others.

The Cure
/thread

Disintegration and Kiss Me (x3) is better than anything The Smiths ever released.

When you realize disintegration was basically the ending credits song to rock music and popular culture itself before everything started stagnating due to globalism and the end of history

The Smiths have a more consistently good output but also I fucking hate Morrissey

>Three Imaginary Boys
Good songs but Robert had no control over the tracklisting and song choices. Listen to Boys Don't Cry instead.

>Seventeen Seconds
Some top shelf stuff here but some middling stuff too. Sometimes the skeletal mood is a bit too skeletal here but it's amazing when it hits. I think Faith is a fuller realization of this album's ambitions personally.

>The Head On The Door
Not too crazy about this one personally but it's hard to deny that it's a sharp pop record. It's a bit longwinded at times but give Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me a try if you liked this one.

>Wish
Depending on who you ask this is arguably the last classic Cure record. Doesn't hold a candle to Disintegration throughout IMO but like Seventeen Seconds there's some brilliant highs here as well. For my money I like Bloodflowers more than this one.
