I took "History of Western Music" in uni for fun. It was honestly a great class, and the professor was excellent. Near the end of the course we wound of on contemporary music. There's nothing "wrong" with contemporary classical music, but the exceptions (and let's be honest, there are a good number of them) to that have to be some of the absolute worst music ever created.

This one in particular, without even speaking of how it sounds in terms of aesthetics, I just find downright offensive. It reeks of "academic music" and just... I don't know how to explain it. I understand recontextualizing works to give them new meaning, but Jesus, why does this need to exist? Taking music that's loved and cherished by so many people, and burned in to the collective memory, and doing this to it?

I can just imagine the amount of smug pretension a person needs to have in order to make something like this and believe that they're doing something "important" or "artistic". Dylan just fucking made simple humble songs with nothing but farmer chords, and then someone made this. The guy who wrote this is basically the same age as Dylan, and says he didn't even know who Bob Dylan was until the early 2000s.
