how sad is it that the gearspammer doesnt even have a proper setup? rack gear sitting right on the carpet, zero cable management. Only recently seen evidence of a couch, so I imagine a table is asking for too much. It's either all spread out on the floor, or precarious perched on his knees. You just know it's uncomfortable, and he probably spends more time setting up than playing with it, since none of it has a permanent home in a workspace.

What do you use the blofeld for? The stuff on youtube is 99% boomercore or drifts off into unpleasant treble and glitch territories (through bad programming I supposse) and it's difficult to gauge the sound of the unit although I understand it's not a very sweetspot heavy synth. I'd mainly be looking for pads and clean plucks without grain because my microkorg can't do these well. The sampling option seems like a nice option to incorporate some panflute stuff or other synths like the D50 or fairlight. The custom wavetables also look very interesting.

Yeah, it's expensive in the same way some of the most modern synths were back then. Software will always win against hardware in terms of price but the quantum does a lot of things right that I hope will trickle down e.g. big (touch)screen and knobs, many synthesis types in one device including sample support, hybrid design with analog filters plus digital filters, 3 oscs again when most digital synths usually go for 2 for no reason etc. Apart from the studiologic sledge and the GR1 I can't remember any current hardware synthesizers that give access to wavetable and granular synthesis respectively that are actually nice to use in the same way you'd program a classic analog synths with direct access to most parameters

For me they are the blues guys and neosoul players of the synth world

That pedal sounds so fucking good. I prefer tape to analog but whenever the deluxe memory man, I start to doubt that.

No offense, but it seems like you don’t really know much about samplers. The Sp404 is a pretty widely used modern sampler. Musicians ranging from Panda Bear/AnCo to Black Dice to Grimes to Mild High Club use it. I’ve had mine for a few years and it’s totally worth it, it’s made working on my tracks 100x easier to arrange and get interesting sounds from working with samples. I use a combo of guitar, bass, synths, and samples to make all my shit. Trust me it’s not just a lofi hiphop meme

also, what are your thoughts on korg microsampler? ive seen its great at moments, but some key functions are missing and they never updated the firmware.

I know a lot of people love it but it's mono only afaik so keep that in mind. I played around with a friends and the workflow and effects were really nice. parameter locks are also incredibly useful to have outside of a DAW as well
