Literally only watched that show for the theme song. The rest of it was pretentious edgy gibberish.

>unironically using the word pretentious to describe why you dislike something
Sub 70 IQ individual who can't appreciate art

You guys would probably like Alanis Morrisette

it's pretentious crap for edgy Yea Forums fags who feel lonely, but Lain still a cute

yikes is not an argument

nice comeback retard. let me guess, another marvel movie for you tonight? Maybe rewatching the GoT episode? God forbid anything is a bit outside the box and appreciated all the same

Nice assumptions, I watch neither of those things. I appreciate that you are desperately attempting to deflect your own bad tastes onto me, but it makes you look like an idiot.

oh yeah dude i'm frothing at the mouth over here. not everyone here is insecure about what they like, not every assumption is a deflection, "idiot"

I'm not the insecure one here, pal. I said I didn't like something and you got butthurt about it.

>a story about the internet written in 1996-1997 that's more relevant today than it was then
>pretentious edgy gibberish

I still haven't seen an anime as great as Lain. Texhnolyze came pretty close though.

>defending something = being insecure
might be the dumbest thing i've heard this week nice

one of the best anime shows, still garbage

was pretty good. Feels incomplete though, and leaves me with a feeling of wanting more, at a deep level. But maybe it's intended?

>that guy who discovers his music through anime

There's lots of good music in anime, so why not?

JJBA was one of the reasons I started listening to music seriously.
is right.

I mean there is the PS1 game if you really want more Lain

If you mean the licensed music, that makes JoJo an outlier. There's almost never music in anime that wasn't commissioned, and if the artists are already well-known then they're probably only well-known in Japan. OGRE YOU ASSHOLE might be known here, and they made some really good music for Space Dandy.

>he doesn't listen to the berserk opening at least 30 times a day

>watches the show
>likes theme song
>doesn't like the show
>keeps watching the show so he can listen to music
>doesn't even understand he can listen to music without need to watch the show

PUT YOUR GRASSES ON

Honestly the only 2 anime shows worth watching. The rest is dogshit

Best anime

How would you know that when you've never watched them?

Death Note was pretty enjoyable.

The guitar solo in the recap episode was pretty interesting, too.

It’s not random, it’s visually narrating the story. Just because it doesn’t hold your hand doesn’t make it random

Up until episode 26, and the last episode

Evangelion made this show redundant.

They handle 2 completely different themes and stories but lain is still 100x better

Evangelion came out earlier, and created the conditions for making shows like this.

Same theme, different format. And not better. Art is cool however.

Evangelion has nothing to do with the internet.

That's the format, not the theme.

Lain is about the internet. It may have thematic overlap with Evangelion but the two are not interchangeable.

Imagine being this objectively fucking stupid in 2019

The internet is the format over which the theme develops.

It had good ideas, story, and visuals, but the way it tries to tell the story doesn't really work.
Like, those literal text walls at some points, I get the idea why they are there, but it just doesn't work on a tv-series.
I think it's kinda stuck in the wrong medium, maybe it would've worked better as a manga or a video game.

It is about the internet as in literally the internet. Why are you behaving like this?

There is a theme, and the theme is explored through the lens of the internet.

patrician taste coming through

Do you have a mental illness?

Do you think medieval love stories are about monarchism by any chance?

There is a videogame for PS1, though the only connection to the anime is Lain. All the other characters and the story is different. And it was also adapted into a manga.

Why is this show suddenly blowing up? Also, why is waifuing Lain more popular now too?

cyberpunk stuff making a comeback

>waifuing Lain more popular now
Is it really?

Where the fuck have you been since the creation of Yea Forums? Among anime it's always been highly rated and talked about to death.

AND ALL THE FEARS YOU HOLD SO DEAR

The neocities type sites I guess
