Probably because it was fucking terrible.

because american indie rock of the time was less faggy and a lot better.

Because Americans were too busy moping around while we were in the spotlight.

britpop is comparable to glam metal in terms of how terrible it is and how terribly it aged

Listen to Cast No Shadow without crying

Except for "Wonderwall" and "Woohoo", literally only english people like it.

AAAALLLLLL THHHHEEEE PEEEEEEPOLLLLLLLEEEEE

some britpop aged badly, but some aged pretty well, and I say that as a non-fan of the genre

Bands like Oasis literally defined the music and music culture in the 90s. They saved us from the likes of Phil Collins and Céline Dion that were ruining the airwaves. Their simple guitar songs spoke directly to honest working people and gave them something to stand by. You fucking geeks would know nothing about. You don't like bands like Oasis because it isn't for you. It's for us. You will never understand. Fuck off.

>Bands like Oasis literally defined the music and music culture in the 90s.
Do you actually think everywhere else is exactly the same as England? Are english people really this myopic?

it was all either too faggy or too steeped in brit lad culture that didn't really make sense to american sensibilities.

Because it sucks and the only reason it took off in the UK to begin with is because Brits are massively insecure and needed to be assured that their music is still relevant.

Any genre of music with "Brit" or "UK" in the name is a massive red flag. Expect bad rip-offs of American music with exaggerated lower-class bong accents.

Cool Britannia was the spotlight in the 90s, only chavs ruined it by being useless and chavvy.

It did, we just thought it was British alt rock.

Based post, user.
Oasis is universal. It speaks to the heart

Ireland were just jealous.

Jealous of a shite genre? Nah. No English band post 1990 has produced anything even close to Loveless. Your time is long finished

Shoegaze is just another example of how Ireland are better than Britain at everything, even things Brits invented. Like Rugby or speaking English.
