This is Pink Floyd's best album. While their later "classic" albums deserve credit for advancing the album rock format, Piper is indisputably their most audacious and innovative musical statement. Echoes comes close for accidentally inventing post-rock, but as far as albums go Piper is their true magnum opus.

Astronomy Domine is the best Pink Floyd track.
Every Pink Floyd album after Syd Barrett left is overrated and people only call them masterpieces to sound cool. Barrett's solo career was better than Pink Floyd after 1968.
IVE GOT A BIKE
Whole album is brutally edited, comercially directed and cut down. Didn't at all reflect the band live performances as "The Pink Floyd Sound"
Barrett hated the way his creativity was garroted whilst making this album.
It’s such a good album.
Flaming and Scarecrow are so beautiful
You're going to listen to Syd reading you bedtime fairy tales and you're going to like it!

Let your uncle joey tell you how it really is
>caring about what this pathological liar says
Barrettfags
Is there anything worse?
I do like it, got an early copy but the whole recording process of that debut is really interesting
gilmourfags
Oh no Friendo is coming
There's a difference between bullshitting and lying
Imagine idolizing a guy who threw away his whole career with drugs and eventually his life. Whose whole creative output encompasses three whole albums and whose legacy and influence is grossly overrated. Imagine.
Gilmourfags are based, it's Rogerfags you have to look out for.
Animals but only if you listen to the whole thing
You're truly based if you're a Masonfag
rogerfags sound gnarly
It's partly people trolling, partly hipsters. It's not that Syd Barrett wasn't important to Pink Floyd's development as a band, but the dude completely encapsulates the "talentless hack" meme. Even the handful of decent songs on Piper are listenable in thanks to the other members' contributions, and that Barrett was already creatively spent by its release.
If you ever encounter Barrettfags in real life, be aware these are very emotionally fragile snowflakes who lack any understanding of music. Just politely nod at their sad admiration of someone who couldn't even tune a guitar properly and immediately direct them to the nearest open mic night.
