I originally got into this band early on through Zach Hill since I was a fan of his. I think the meme image they've acquired over the years is in equal parts due to their cryptic relations with their fans and the somewhat absurd lyricism and sound. Since they is hardly any info about the band (especially compared to other artists) and their interactions through social media are little more than cryptic tweets and cursed images, it leaves a lot to the imagination. Combining this lack of info and engagement with Ride's lyrics (fuck is that a hairstyle) and catchy hooks (it goes it goes it goes), it's pretty easy to see how the memes would be easily born.

I don't know why I wrote easy twice in the last sentence. I also wanted to mention that I think DG is great and genuinely a good band but they just suffer from a retarded fan base. Maybe Mac Demarco is a comparable act.

It's a band for teenagers, teenagers are generally cringe.
