Why would I support shitty music?

>Why would I support shitty music?
Because we're all in this together.

CUTE

Wtf is a MU?

i mean i do what i can for the few artists here i can single out who are passable but man my small ass town doesnt have much of a scene at all

I don't have a local scene.

i don't know where it is

my local scene sucks

Like scenes still exist

get out of ur house more

idk how to find out about it. if they invited me i'd go

Because it's not the 80's anymore
this
no dude, supporting your buddies college band that's never going to get anywhere isn't a scene.

The last scene in my area was in 2004 when metal and emo was popular

lol u must live in a garbage place there are still underground scenes that exist all over

once again, leave ur house for once or move somewhere better

i'm a scene boy, does that count?

Because it seems to be full of ugly SJW freaks who want to spend more time tone/language-policing people than actually enjoying music.

FOUND THE NERD

no, i just told you, these scenes are a waste of time because the music is outdated, and it's not going to become successful. unless you're talking about more of a cloud rap scene or very rare exceptions for indie bands. even then, a lot of them are manufactured. i live in chicago, been to plenty of underground punk, indie, and electronic shows. i never heard from most of these bands again, except for maybe the Smith Westerns, and they broke up a long time ago. And The Orwells, but we all know what happened to them. Twin Peaks are alright, but I hate the scene these days.

and i hate the scene for mostly this reason.

This really, politics has infested everything

the only punk bar i know in my city is closing after this coming weekend
shit sux

find out where people with dyed hair, mohawks, and spiky clothes hang out and go there

lmao once again move to a better place

so many different and unique scenes in brooklyn with actual good music, be it experimental and noise or weird electronic shit or anything

t. people who have never actually gotten into any scene. this entire "SJW R BAD!!!!!!" shit is so old now and its so untrue, literally everyone who spews this shit has not once ever dealt with someone accusing them of anything. truth is most people just keep their mouths shut or dont even involve politics unless its the occasional "fuck trump", but if that offends u then stop being a snowflake :)

once again to all of you, leave mommy's basement once in a while and try to find cool shit around you

I have fucko, i go to the shows, i pay the tickets, when it's free i donate, i put up with the faggy anarcho-capatalist larpers and fashion punks. what more do you want!?

Fucking based

I go to their live shows but don't buy their studio albums because they suck. The live shows are good tho.

tell me about the current scenes in new york

>brooklyn
You still think it's 10 years ago, huh?

Do 'scenes' even exist anymore? Seems like such a mid-2000s thing at this point. I guess I'm just too old to have any idea what's going on out there at this point, or even really care.

like im gonna support a scene thats filled with boomers playing pink floyd and ccr covers

you're very naive, perhaps you live in some utopia where people just get along and listen to music which sounds nice. where I live every show is filled with these losers complaining about toxic masculinity, pinkwashing, free Palestine, etc etc whatever bullshit issue they invented between sets. it's taxing dude, I just want to listen to music.

we can't all live in the metropolitan capital of the world. obviously there's gonna be some good shit in new york.

Hipster boomers clinging to the past

My local scene is high school bands who play for two years before leaving for uni or the army. None of them published.

youre definitely right, nyc is becoming so much worse every year that goes by and there are less and less actual diy venues/events. shit is becoming sex and the city
but there def still is a definitive scene here and there is TONS of music playing. like i could hit something every night of the week if i wanted to if i kept up with everything going on. still sad to see what the place is becoming tho

this is what literally everyone says all the time yet ive been to so many damn shows (literally go to minimum of 1 every weekend) and havent met a single person spewing that rhetoric. and i live in fucking brooklyn and go to diy events in like bushwick and shit. i talk to so many people and if i even bought up politics once i would be looked at weirdly and have had the topic changed, or maybe they would just agree and shoot the shit for a bit and then move on which honestly makes me think that most of the people that complain about this shit are just super right wing and get triggered by anyone saying something even remotely progressive
where do u live?

lol was just addressing the morons complaining scenes are dead by giving a good example

supported my local scene recently, moving to phoenix soon. anyone know anything bout the music scene there?

my local scene is a single genre, and the one venue that actually pops off is being knocked down in a few months to build an apartment building

My local scene is filled with the shittiest most generic metalcore only edgy teens and loser adults who hang out with teens listen to. Even metalcore that's relatively famous is complete dog shit

I support my local scene... to the ppl saying "idk where it is" . . . christ, look for it then. It's not like people make their shows impossible to find. Just find some DIY shows that fit the genres you're interested in and check it out. I think that's the best way to start.

Where I used to live the scene was all communist folk punk, so there.

also would like to note, I come from a small city of 200 000 or so in Western Canada, people commonly call my city the shithole of Canada (I live in Regina) and it's often seen by people from outiside and inside the city as a culturally deficient shithole. One thing I've learned from living here is to make the most of what you have around you, even though I live in one of the most Hick cities in the country, there are still many great bands, and artists from all diff types of genres, you just have to look a little.

It also sucks most of the music scene is in brooklyn. At least the largest. Theres nothing up here in washington heights, just waiting for the gentrification to kick

Besides the shitty commie punk that dominates the area most of them are not my kind of people.

They never really liked me.

Cause it's all white girls doing ukelele covers or boomer tribute bands

Unironically because I'm too shy.
I know it exists and I have no doubts there's good music there but I have no idea how to approach it.

i first lived in downtown manhattan when i wanted to get into the music scene and holy fuck, manhattan pisses me off so much. there is literally NOTHING there that is interesting to do. there is zero music, zero diy venues, the streets are empty the second it hits 4am (so much for the city that never sleeps) and the only thing that is remotely worthwhile are things that rich people do
in brooklyn i can be doing coke in a dark bathroom at 6am at a diy rave and be surrounded by people that have great music tastes
fuck manhattan. move to brooklyn if you want any sort of art/music

biggest thing ive found is social media in terms of how to find things, its this generations "ask a punk" or "word of mouth" shit (though there are much smaller events that are truly like that). hard to crack but once you do, just take some time and dive into the rabbit hole and find shit going on. instagram is the best for this imo.
once you find something going on literally get ONE (1) friend to go with you so that you dont feel awkward. as for the shyness, i know firsthand it isnt as easy as "just talk to ppl bro!" but for me what helped when i was initially really shy is to drink before you go in. i can handle my liquor so i would go in shitfaced but still coherent and talk to everyone i saw. most people are way friendlier than you think

i live in santa barbara CA and these people have infested the shows here. sounds like you've got a good thing going over there in Brooklyn enjoy it.

im not 21

get a fake id user

Local scenes are shit and so are you, faggot.

Sounds like there's a lot of variance between local scenes. Who would have thought?

Holy fuggg I’m moving to Bushwick soon to record/write music with friends. This makes me even more pumped

ahah shit like that doesn't happen very often but when it does, its the most amazing feeling ever. how old are you and where are you coming from?

I mean ya I figured, sounds fun tho. I’m 25 & out of Austin, TX

ahh are they here already or are they moving fresh w you?

it's ironic that you're the one who shoehorned politics into this because you have a rag against the SJWs

t. SJW
Fuck you, faggot

Literally just played a show

How about you?

>go to a show in ukraine
>everyone is young, attractive, friendly and having a good time just enjoying the music
>go to a show in usa/canada
>its a bunch of fat ugly chicks bitching shrilly about politics and balding 35 year old losers

where and what type of music do you play :D

OUT THERE IN THE COLD
GETTING LONELY GETTING OLD
CAN YOU FEEL ME?

OOH BABE

Sounds good

My scene is just shitty rap and wannabe punk kids, nothing I want to be associated with

A have a couple friends that already live up there

>Local scene
I live in the middle of fucking nowhere. What, did the cows start a prog rock trio or something?

>you will never grow up rich af and come down from your georgetown prep school to larp as a local to support the local scene on the mean streets of DC

Attached: Henry-Rollins-young1.jpg (266x324, 37K)

SKATE MEAN LIVE CLEAN

My local scene is mostly jazz and blues groups. It's not really my thing.

I am my local scene.

DIY and local scenes are musical communism. Eventually all scenes devolve into infighting and credibility wars, and the shittiest bands end up getting the best gigs because of who they know (so basically the same thing as the mainstream music industry, only less talent and money).

There is no such thing

because it's full of gay students who think they are cool and I'm brown
