Now that I think of it, a friend gave me Cryptic Writings remaster and it did sound weird. Added some unnecessary shit, and removed the Ramones intro of Use the Man.
I like all of them up to Cryptic Writings (their 7th from 97) but nobody here likes it so, I don't know. Just stay the fuck away from anything post 2000

I'm so not into metal, but remastering any artist's works is such a dicey proposition. It often backfires in every genre. There are bad Beatles remasters, bad Stones remasters, bad Beach Boys remasters, and so on.

I'm a purist with this stuff. With CDs, I much prefer "catalog" releases from the 1980s of older material. Why? Because the first generation of CDs were just simple transfers of the original masters used for the earlier vinyl format. In short, you simply got a cleaner, blem-free version of the old record. Outside of a little tasteful equalizing, I think the less music is fucked around with, the better a listening experience it is.

They make the album actually listenable.
Not even memeing, the lack of bass hurts the album hard imo. People got used to the original mix, but it is undeniable that it sucks and the album becomes 10x better with bass.
