I'm fine with people being tourists, but it was nice to have a music discussion site in which people actively tried to expose themselves and each other to new things and to discuss things that haven't been discussed to death. It's indie rock, but yeah I agree they're probably the last big indie rock band that came out with an innovative sound. It's kind of all sounded the same since.
Been spinning this and Your Blues by Destroyer a lot lately. I feel like both those artists have some 10/10 spots in their discography that never get poster here. Have you heard either?
Uhh idk if SJ is “indie rock” it doesn’t really sound like any other indie rock band I’ve ever heard and they’re signed to a major label. But I’ll check that album, haven’t heard that particular Destroyer album but both Destroyer’s Rubies and Kaputt are 9.5/10 if not 10/10 albums for me
To add on to this, if we were talking about Feels and you said indie rock, I would definitely be more agreeable but SJ is a whole other beast/sound

I disagree even though I love Doolittle. Surfer Rosa has that raw sound (thanks partially to Steve Albini) that gives it a visceral punch, it's very funny, and honestly it's just more chaotic and rough around the edges which I personally prefer.
