Bon Jovi

Jack White

Is it me or does Jourgensen keep looking dumber and dumber by the year?

Everyone but me tbf

XXX

Most old "rock star" types like Rolling Stones, Kiss, U2, RHCP etc stadium tier bands that all phoned it in ages ago to make cash grabs

Kiss has always been phoning it in

You do that kind of thing for a career, and you basically become a sort of fully-grown child.

All of them
Especially

Attached: robzombierollingstone2016_638.jpg (638x359, 31K)

He's not only looking dumber by the year, he's also getting dumber.

Who the fuck is this goblin

Al Jourgensen of Ministry. Used to make great music like this:
youtube.com/watch?v=Yaz5V6OFQlo

Swans

or your brain turns to mush because of all the drugs

Attached: rivers-cuomo-1-sized.jpg (222x335, 20K)

Red Hot Chili Peppers. If they'd just broken up after One Hot Minute flopped, they'd be far more highly regarded.

I liked Californication and By the Way, mainly because of Frush

Dream theater
Megadeth

Both had a few decent tracks on them, but those records kickstarted the whole "ding-dang, ying-yang, Californica!" radio-rock era.

>mfw i heard Ministry's latest album
jesus christ it's like a 16 year old made it. What the fuck was Al thinking?

Attached: Take my car.png (848x761, 657K)

Coheed and Cambria
They should have stopped after 2008

Can't agree more

>23 posts in
>no Ozzy
He's pretty much a walking vegetable at this point, the only reason he's still touring is because of Sharon

Attached: ozzy-a17bd26793ae47695df9defe9ddb5511951458ce-s800-c85.jpg (800x600, 69K)

kevin shields

Shut up, he still has one more try to make pinkerblue II

Yeah absolutely this

Reminder Death Grips opened for this band on tour multiple times.

this is still a band wtf?

true

all this thread is correct but
no
kevin gave us MBV which was as good or better (on some days) than loveless itself. guy still kills it.

Oh yeah, I'd like to see that new guitarist leaving and doing something with his own band instead. They actually have some really good records.
And I mean, what can rhcp do? Their music is tired at this point (more like since Stadium Arcadium but whatever) and it probably won't change unless they get up and radically change their sound. Which I don't believe will happen, because that is too much of a risk...They should just let it go, maybe have a concert once in a while, but that's it

true, he should have taken his own advice after No More Tours

Everyone playing guitar in 2019, to be honest.

WRONG he will finish songs from the black hole first

the xx should've stopped right after releasing their s/t album.
arcade fire should've stopped after the suburbs. reflektor also would've been a tolerable stopping point.
animal collective should've broken up after MPP (don't be a contrarian).
the decemberists should've stopped after the hazards of love.
sleigh bells should've stopped after reign of terror.
fever ray should've left her only album alone

Yeah Keith Morris give it a rest already

Guitars suck

They were never gonna topped Electric Feel

Attached: MGMT-2018-tour-announce.jpg (1500x1000, 160K)

Ozzy has never meant anything as a solo artist. He was always just rock royalty who relied on top-tier backing musicians and songwriters to carry him.

Fuck off bleepfag.

Attached: 1550880929981.jpg (500x444, 42K)

I think Brian Warner needs to give it up already.

AC/DC, Metallica, etc, etc

St. Vincent

The Strokes

Madonna

KMFDM

yeah, their new female vocalist sucks ass

It’s over before it begins

He was never all that good anyway.

Bruce Springsteen

used to be entertaining at least

Nofx

tmbg

He should've stopped after his greatest hits album. He's just embarrassing now.

Attached: manson.jpg (750x420, 145K)

>What the fuck was Al thinking?
he wasnt

This

I disagree, White Zombie have some fantastic records.

he should've stopped after 1989

> the whole "ding-dang, ying-yang, Californica!" radio-rock era
Thank you! You just put into words what I've been trying to formulate for ages what I so dislike about newer RHCP.
In additio to having dropped pretty much all of their rocking and funking, that is.

He should've never started.

Yo big ups for posting that. Was it drugs that morphed this guy into what he is now?

Green Gay

DELET THIS

My personal theory is that a band should stop after 5 albums. Anyone agree?

Based. I'm gonna say interpol should have stopped after our love. The self titled and El pintor both suck. Banks us better with rza

Not necessarily. QOTSA still kill it on every release. And consider a band like Converge too. They are still releasing excellent material.

I'm convinced him With Sympathy era Al was killed by some junkie and assumed his identity between then and now. Particularly around the late 90s

Trent Reznor should've stuck to movie scores after his "farewell tour".
Hesitation Marks and the EP trilogy were dogshit.

i can see the appeal of the endless cash grabs but if i was in a band that was the "it" thing for awhile i'd rather just end it on a pseudo-hiatus and get back together to play a small tour for our aging fans or play at the occasional festival as a novelty act from the past, feels like that would be super comfy instead of just making irrelevant music for decades after your peak

Someone needs to tell Iggy Pop to put a shirt on already

Bob Dylan

He's 60 years old dude

I meant for this

i bet you like Swans and Slint, faggot

Yeah, heroine and meth fucked him.

Still in great shape and does three hour shows every night.

That doesn't mean he's made any relevant music in 30+ years or that his shows aren't just an excuse for drunk boomers to wave their fists in the air and chant BAWWNNN ENNN THE EEEUUUUUESSSSAYYYY.

Sad but true. I wouldn't recommend anyone listen to his 21st century output.

Henry Rollins

get out of here, kevin. we all hated mbv, terrible terrible album, geezer

Slayer

Their debut is okay but its their worse

whats up with liking swans or slint?

Attached: 8yt87tvty.jpg (960x542, 73K)

The thrillogy was nice. Trents channeling bowie in God break down the door. But I think he's gonna call it soon.

It was over when the album he produced for Jack Off Jill wound up being better than any of his actual albums.

He's a decent actor, he should just do that.

I have listened to a total of 5 minutes of both of those bands and have literally no opinion on either.

>And I mean, what can rhcp do? Their music is tired at this point (more like since Stadium Arcadium but whatever) and it probably won't change unless
And why would they care anyway? They're old and rich.

>HEALTH
They are trying so hard to be both contemporary and original, but fail at both. Death Magic was interesting, with some decent songs, but the new one (I can't even remember the name) wasn't bad, just dull. They've lost the spark and all of their music has been getting less interesting since their debut anyway.

>Primus
None of their new stuff comes close to the old stuff. I get that it's still nice to see them live, and Les is still a very positive, very creative person, but this well was mined to completion.

>In Flames
Was never a fan, but I'm genuinely surprised this band is still going. They've turned their backs on several waves of their fanbases, and somehow seem to still make a living out of it.

>any variation of the Misfits
The only reason anyone gives Jerry Only the time of day is because he was in the band for so long - Danzig is the real talent and even he is washed up, so just let the legacy speak for itself.

>U2
Creatively empty, coasting on brand name, past successes and the occasional hook.

Depends on the band.

100% agree with you on HEALTH. They had so much potential but it's been nothing but downhill since the Max Payne OST.

Maybe 2 chord """"rock"""", but there's plenty of interesting drone/American Primitive derived stuff out there

Pearl Jam

Iron Maiden

Robert Smith sadly, although a change of looks and some weight loss could help some, a fresh look.

Nice try... MBV was fantastic and you know it.

>trash like marilyn manson is somehow better than swans and slint
the absolute state of this shit board

Beach House: creatively bankrupt after their third album.

he had a great voice in his prime

>Primus

who cares about new material. they're sick live. there's still a market for them playing their best music live, why should an artist cease playing live just because their new studio albums aren't great?

The Rolling Stones should have stopped in 1980 at the latest.

The 81-82 tour was the last one where they were actually a working band and not a nostalgia act.

Ween

Fair enough. 1982 then.

Aerosmith

Judas Priest because without Tipton and Downing it's just a Halford solo act and shouldn't even go around billing itself as Judas Priest.

Blasphemy.
Robert Smith can do what he damn well pleases.

He takes forever to put out an album but it's always better than what's out contemporarily. Or at least on par. I didn't like the last one but it was way better than what was on the radio.

Attached: Robert Smith Morrissey.png (558x909, 583K)

but the soundtracks -- they're still good work

We will never quit.

Attached: New Order.jpg (300x168, 11K)

Devils and Dust was good, though.

Attached: images.jpg (225x225, 11K)

Tame Impala

>That doesn't mean he's made any relevant music in 30+ years
Didn't he have a string of pretty big hits/a few critically acclaimed albums well after Born in the USA though?

And don't forget Broadway acoustic shows.
That person doesn't know what they're talking about. And I'm not even a fan of Bruce, but still, the facts are there.

Tunnel of Love was the end. Although like someone else said, if you can still put on a good live show, there's nothing wrong with continuing to do so even if you'll never make a good album again.

>Paul McCartney
His stuff in the 70's and some of the shit he did with Wings was great, but I think it wouldn't have been a terrible idea if he just quit music after the Beatles broke up.

What a fucking poor opinion
I could understand Hesitation Marks opinion, but EP Trilogy is easily among his best, you really prefer The Slip over The Trilogy?

Madonna very cleverly and cynically gamed the system. She knows she'll never make any good albums again, so she figured she can continue performing live and milking gay guys for money. It's worked, there's no other pop star her age who still fills arenas and ones half her age like Britney and Katy Perry are finished.

Live and Let Die was awesome.
And that's about it...

This. And pic related.

Cher?
Celine Dion?

Trent said he feels energized and already has an idea for the next NIN project, he's more inspired than he's been in years, so I think he still has like at least three albums in him

Alice in Chains shouldn't have reformed after layne OD'd.

>Cher?
I guess she's no longer discussable without summoning /pol/, so...

At least Trent grew the fuck up instead of being 50 and pretending he's 23 like his butt buddy.

Oh. OK, then. I don't know the reference but all right. I'll leave it at that.

I kind of stopped listening to him (seriously) around the Fragile. I did like Ghosts. And I downloaded some of his stuff from Rapid Shares (here) before it got taken down but haven't spent much time with the material. I should pull it up and listen. You've inspired me.

Much like David Lowery of Camper Van Beethoven & Cracker.

>I don't know the reference but all right.
Cher went full-out MAGA the past week or something.

>and ones half her age like Britney and Katy Perry are finished.

Why would you be surprised? Neither of those two wrote their own material or were ever really in charge of their own careers the way Madonna is; they're just producers' puppets.

Gotta milk those nostalgia bux.

I'm not saying she's finished, but when the fuck do we get another album? It's been four years.

The Stones might be finished now that Mick Jagger had heart surgery. Although if he's the reason they finally retire, it would be ironic given how he's always been the fittest and most health-conscious of the group.

Fleetwood Mac should quit too, most of them are at death's door.

Maybe it's good that Kurt Cobain and Jimi Hendrix died in their prime and wouldn't end up sad old fried zombies singing the same greatest hits setlist every night.

Cobain probably would have done experimental music like Trent as he got older, I don't think he wanted to be seen as a teen angst symbol forever.

Yes. Or whatever variation is calling themselves “yes” now. It’s sad to watch. Steve howe looks like a fucking corpse.

this is pretty dumb of you

This year. It's going to be a nu-metal revival concept album about the ongoing mass extinction caused by humans (I wish I was making this up). It's either going to be bad and widely mocked or bad and awkwardly praised -- like trying to find something nice to say about a sad teenagers poetry.

>he hasn't heard Siberian Breaks
>he hasn't heard When You Die
>his life is a lie

Is that Janis Joplin?

but hes always been terrible

Gotcha. Had no clue.
Heh.
I'm surprised, actually.

But Britney's music is better than Madonna's. Madonna isn't an artist (neither are Britney or Katy) she was just really smart at one point. That's it.

yeah ok

It's long been known that she's completely and utterly horrified by her daughter's choice of lifestyle, but in the entertainment industry you're not permitted to say anything about it.

Based Cher

My favorite Madonna is Die Another Day Madonna. Not the song, but the lesbian fencing instructor.
Rowr.

>pic related, you can tell he sizing her up as a grand architect

Attached: Diet Another Day.jpg (1916x802, 204K)

Lol that Keith Richards is still even alive!

For some reason this makes me really, really happy and comfy from my bed.

Attached: comfy cat.jpg (588x960, 60K)

What happened around the late 90s?

I do like that Love and Rockets called it quits when they did. They had a great run; and some members are still going strong.

Attached: love and rockets.jpg (300x300, 17K)

Time to pull the plug

Attached: Keith.jpg (920x655, 49K)

It must've been William S. Burroughs' ghost...

>Never trust a junkie

Attached: wsb.jpg (480x360, 13K)

Al should've sued Rammstein for taking that riff, it's fucking great

WTF???

Makes Robert Smith look like a super model.

Still one of the best live performances ever, prove me wrong

Attached: erick.jpg (720x720, 79K)

I don't listen to Rammstein so I didn't know they ripped it off. That's pretty brazen, considering they both kinda have the same listeners. I remember Rammstein being referenced on Space Ghost on Adult Swim decades ago... I did like the Ministry album reference to Aleister Crowley in "how to suck seed and how to suck eggs".

just compare these two:
youtube.com/watch?v=eDc5sHQWhbc
youtube.com/watch?v=W3q8Od5qJio

Omigod. I remember seeing this on acid way back in the late 19 hundreds. That Warner Reprise logo brings back memories. It is an intense performance, for sure. I might argue that the Cure's "Trilogy" is up there. As well as Bauhaus' "Archive" show. I'm not really a goth fag but those bands tend to put on better shows live. The Rolling Stones et. al. just aren't that interesting while playing live.

Oh yeah, now I remember them. They were cheesy (Rammstein) to me so I never really paid attention to them. Ministry was the real deal back then, though.

Golly, you're right though. Should have been sued. Fucking hell, New Order got sued by John Denver's estate for their "Run" single sounding like "Leaving on a Jet Plane". Now, I'm a fan of both but I just don't see a lawsuit on that one. I think they paid it out just to get it over and done with but most of New Order didn't even know who John Denver was. Go figure.

What really got me into nin was watching the live DVDs and the numerous recorded shows archived on youtube.

>The Rolling Stones et. al. just aren't that interesting while playing live.
Maybe if you saw them in 1972.

Is this that guy from Wheatus?

>13:50
And nice purloined Sabbath licks.

I've got to say that NINs shows are nothing short of spectacular. I remember when Trent Reznor chucked his mic stand into the air and it landed on the drummer's head. The show stopped and he came out and apologized profusely. The drummer got stitched up and finished the show. This would've been the Downward Spiral era tour at the Warfield in San Francisco. Saw them later in arenas and they still hold up in those venues.

Perhaps. Or at the Altamont with the Hell's Angels.

>dumb people who say hip-hop is the new rock
It's not. A rapper could never do this or have the same sense of power or mystery.

I was more noticing how much he tried to imitate James Hetfield's voice.

They came around about the same time, though... Duly noted.
I honestly don't think he was imitating. I could be wrong but when I read about stuff like the Fields of the Nephilim ripping off Sisters of Mercy I go, "huh." Maybe. But then I read about how Carl McCoy got a burnt throat when he was a kid and that's just how his voice comes out. Also, Metallica should give it a rest.
For a little while...

Merzbow.
His life is a failure, a big joke.
Imagine turning knobs... toot toot, beep beep...

>Cage the Elephant
Self-titled and Melophobia were honestly great, but the album releasing in three days is shaping up to be soft radio-friendly pop rock. They weren’t some crazy hardcore avant-garde band before, but they weren’t sellouts either, and at least they sounded good.

Attached: 2ADEE7EE-F5E5-4869-B611-FE7A73719CFF.jpg (1986x1100, 229K)

i dont really hear it. I knew he did a falsetto british accent during the With Sympathy

I do know an artist that shouldn't have stopped ages ago, Christian and the hedgehog boys. I say this because

Comeback! is better than Christian and the hedgehog boys

True patricians know that Comeback! is undoubtedly Christian's finest work
You can tell that he has improved as an artist and unlike the first album which (although a classic) is very much of its time, Comeback!'s tracks have a timeless feel with him expanding his horizons by tackling new genres furthermore showing his undeniable talent and he does all of this while still keeping the emotion and sincerity that made his first album so great
I would highly recommend it if you haven't checked it out

Attached: default.jpg (900x891, 256K)

Fall out boy and panic at the disco. They never should've reformed if they were gonna be making top-40 radio trash.

The desaturing Seven is really good, and Willy Wonka concept album was fun too

If anything its the opposite, their last release was like 12 years ago, (not counting demos, live shows, etc) and their late records are great too, at least quebec and shinola, i didn't listen to la cucaracha yet

Stop? They haven't produced new material in forever.
I hope they don't stop playing. Their live shows are the best.

Attached: WEEEN.png (365x236, 69K)

No way. Annie keeps making quality music.

It's less than 4 years, pal. Art Angels was released in November 2015.

Wrong. Grimes still has a lot to prove.

This
