Does anyone know a good recording for Rabaud’s Mârouf, savetier du Caire? Can only seem to find extremely old ones and don’t really want to bother with them
Isaiah Richardson
Do you guys buy into latter day assessments of Poulenc? Far from hearing him as a serious composer, the music I’ve heard is just fine light music.
I feel bad for your brain. Strictly speaking youtube is less of a "forum" than Yea Forums. You've never heard of Penthouse Forum or the forum in ancient Rome? Any discussion platform is a forum. Doesn't matter what you think of it or that your sekrit club doesn't have a sekrit enough name. Its a forum. Deal with it.
threadly reminder that your proposition is shit as has been proven several times already
Robert White
No, nobody has posted anything idiosyncratic from Mozarts sonatas. Keep in mind we're just talking about the piano sonatas here, not those with violin or any other accompaniment.
Jason Morris
He has never been proven wrong because he's in fact correct Based Mozart's Piano Sonatas Are Uncharacteristically Tame Poster
David Gomez
gamesaf
Mason White
No evidence has been presented to back that claim, other than one sonata and your vague opinions.
Asher Barnes
afraid I don't know that one, old chap
Andrew Nelson
Well I didn't mean to present evidence. I mean its pretty difficult to demonstrate such a thing. The burden of proof would be on the other party in this case.
Jose Russell
>I make a claim, but I can't and won't prove it so you have to disprove it, that's how burden of proof works! I can't even take you seriously anymore.
Nathan Bennett
Obviously I can't go bar by bar through every scintilla of the Mozart sonatas and say "oh there's a precedent for this, it was done by other composers in the Classical era".
Eli Myers
case closed then
Aaron Williams
Yeah and its a cold case. I'm Orthodox Christian but I bet you think its on atheists to prove there is no God as well.
Angel Cox
I think you're having a stroke.
Elijah Ramirez
>HAHAHAHA YOU'RE SO MAAAAD
Said every guy losing an argument on Yea Forums ever.
Its so conventional that its Haydnesque lol. If you're going to post something "unconventional" from the Mozart sonatas the closest you'll get is K570. Still, its not even close to something like the Quintet in G minor.
I see now what >other than one sonata and your vague opinions. meant. Dick.
Ryan Campbell
But the C minor sonata is GOAT. youtu.be/mH6jlVav418?t=3116 >those abrupt harmonic and expressive contrasts (like the one-chord transition from C minor to E-flat major in the finale) >no extremes of register (like the ridiculously low subdominant chord in the first movement, or the high-low juxtaposition in the coda of the finale, which probably inspired Beethoven's final C minor sonata) >no unusual harmonic distances (like the unprepared flat mediant in the slow movement, which is followed by rapid modulation in whole tones that traces a tritone - the furthest harmonic distance possible - in just four measures) >no expressive tempo modifications (like the fermata sigh-motif interruptions in the finale, marked "a piacere" - a very unusual marking in Mozart) You'd have to be a brainlet or uninformed to find this conventional. Further proof Mozart is underrated.
Even when hating on Mozart is the "cool" thing to do in the mind of edgy contrarians, Mozart has never been underrated, and never will. People speaking lowly of him are a loud, retarded minority.
Leo Thompson
Mozart is eternally underrated because even the highest praise is a gross understatement.
Xavier King
ok that's just dumb
Chase Allen
Further proof.
Ethan Martinez
>I have a proposition >I disagree >Further proof! Has this entire general gone retarded?
Oliver Perry
>Has this entire general gone retarded? Yes. It's filled with Mozart underraters
you would literally think this dude was white if it was published under a name like John Parker or something. It sounds really good
Joseph Myers
What does the ice cream represent?
Jayden Lewis
>he thinks the problem is that he's not white budding romanticism
Ian Cox
what's the problem?
Sebastian Wood
the music's shit
Dylan Cruz
nah
Aaron Taylor
>budding romanticism Based We rarely see any historical backing in letters and such to say that Beethoven was heavily influenced by Mozart, but it's plainly evident in his music. Praise father Mozart.
He's good, just too romantic sometimes, too much rubato for my taste Anyway i just checked his wiki to see if he is still alive and indeed he's still kicking, Based and alivepilled
Tranny of margarine = tyranny of the majority. Maybe it doesn't "read" as they say in comedy but I figured Grug, being stupid would say that instead of "tyranny of the majority"
Brandon Gonzalez
...
Elijah Cruz
yanks dont understand, Europeans recognize other Europeans, where as yanks have autistic definitions of race and think anyone with brown hair or speaking a latin language isnt white, I'm not even spanish I'm from northern Europe
>yanks dont understand, Europeans recognize other Europeans, where as yanks have autistic definitions of race and think anyone with brown hair there are spaniards who look like Tyler1 going around telling people that their white.
Nathaniel Parker
Holy shit, Beethoven just straight up plagiarized that coda. WTF. Maybe he was a nignog afterall.
That's called using your noodle, Grug. There's only two things someone called "tyler1" is going to be: a rapper (I ruled that out because even the most retarded /classical/ poster still hates rap) or an eceleb of some variety.
Jeremiah Turner
oh i totally believe you didn't pop out a quick google search to get that info
Angel Reyes
That's the jargon for it. What kind of buffoon is going to say 'racial mixture' or 'genetic mixture'. Its DNA, not a fucking cake.
Since when is it an issue of contention that Cervantes was Jewish?
Anthony Richardson
He was not, his family were "old christians" and his grandfather worked as a secretary for the inquisition, a place in which anyfrom a non-chirstian family could be
Jack Ward
he was catholic, it was theorized that some of his ancestors 200 years born may have been jewish and converted to Christianity, if you really think someone is still jewish by then you're retarded and even still jews are white
Hunter Gutierrez
edit 200 years before he was born
Luke Howard
I'm not an antisemite but at least I can break down the word into its constituent parts.
I never post in these threads, do you guys like Schoenberg? Or are you elitists who reject 20th century classical?
Nicholas Miller
We're most certainly elitists but its because we like Schoenberg, not because we're earlets who dismiss his music as ugly. How can a philistine be an elitist?
Owen Lewis
Fair enough.
Robert Garcia
I wouldnt really mind if he like Picasso showed that he was capable of writing skilled music as well but from all I've read on him he didnt seem to have any musical talent and skill, and just larped with real musicians and gave his stupid ideas
Jack Lewis
Yeah, this is basically the yardstick I use. You have to prove you can make good conventional music before you start fucking around with extended technique, serialism and dissonant counterpoint. However some composers don't do this and there is still evidences of ability in this extreme music.
Andrew Torres
Are you fuckers really able to analyze music you could find randomly on youtube? I doubt it
Lucas Phillips
He's ok, his fanbase its just too cringe Personally I prefer Webern I find his music to be more "Bold" and I find Shoenberg's music to be "insecure" like he didn't have the balls to do what Webern did and this is why Webern ended up being more influencial than Shoenberg in the post-war landscape
Samuel Hall
what music and analyze what? its just notes
Jack Lee
Why?
Lucas Morales
like with roman numerals? No. But I could say things about what the harmony is doing.
Easton Gomez
I'm talking about things as form, phrases, themes, structures, etc.
>I'm talking about things as form, phrases, themes, structures, etc. That's not very hard to comprehend from listening only once, it's mostly the details that require scrutiny.
Blake Clark
Literal ANYONE could do that, even without theoretical knowledge.
"oh there's the first theme again but its sad, this must be the development section"
Nicholas Garcia
Mozart was literally underrated before like the 30s and shit, where he had become a "composer's composer" and the general audience didn't care for him much. There's a short talk from Thomas Beecham where he mentions that, look it up. As a conductor he tried to bring M back into the spotlight (and succeeded with the help of many other performers)
Gavin Ramirez
Actually quite a lot of educated, otherwise skilled musicians have a blind spot for Mozart. While it is true that he will rarely be denigrated, it is even more rare for people to recognize just how radical, innovative and complex his approach was.
John Jones
Ironically that's because of oversaturation. Even after years of recognizing the problem, I am still trying to hear Symphony 40 objectively.
It's usually elitists that like him though. But he's cool. I'm more of a Berg guy
Noah Myers
not really maybe Stravinsky, Schoenberg was more conservative and academic
Mason Parker
Nothing is stupid Except you lol
Liam Thomas
>mainstream composers sucked him off >dominated opera >managed to influence the music a country that he wasn’t even from >king of said country sucked him off too >performed an hour long suite on the middle of the river of fucking thames
I forgot about Casella, with his snake lady opera and his Mahlerian symphony.
Nathan Parker
Is he right or wrong?
Xavier Ramirez
Wrong for saying "composition is ____" at all It's composing music, that's it.
Benjamin Hernandez
Look it’s a tonic expansion. Woah the dominant wew back to the CYCLE PROGRESSION TO THE b section WOAH rounded BINARY HALF CADENCE V/V and the fuckin PICARDY THIRD
Gabriel Clark
I mean if that's not what you do then what are you looking for in music
Alexander Peterson
ecstasy
Joseph Morris
So you like romantics then you plebeian? Do you listen to Satie too?
Chase King
very nice
Xavier Harris
It sounds like a Donald Trump quote, superficially evocative but ultimately meaningless.
