Arcade Fire

Death from Above 1979

Probably the only Canadian band I like right now.

Heard they released a new album this year, is it good?

There scottish.

They're Scottish OP.
Godspeed You! Black Emperor

First two were better imo. but its still pretty good

METRIC

Blank & the Banshees

We've got some high IQ individuals right here

Not even the best band on Constellation.

>boards of canada
>scottish
what

Shut the fuck up you aren’t smart

theyr'e literally of canada

Klaatu

Who is?

Alvvays, Viet Cong / Preoccupations, Joni Mitchell, Godspeed,

Speaking of Alvvays I'm going to see them in Banff this summer in July . . . couldn't be more hyped. I'm moving to Calgary this summer for work, I was hoping Alvvays would swing by but no, they're playing an outdoor show in Banff in July which is wayyy better. fuck ((((:

Posting an obvious one. It's almost been 9 years and Public Strain is still the album of the decade so far.

Skinny Puppy

DMST / Exhaust

GY!BE, Arcade Fire are the obvious picks (and great ones) of course
Then there is Rush
And of course, a very comfy album, Plantasia

Men without hats, just because of their based mascot.

Plantasia is not even Garson's best. Mort Garson is one of the most under rated Canadian electronic music producers of all time. Check out some of his better albums

>Exhaust
No doubt, really underrated. Have you listened to Girt's most recent material?
>DMST
Meh. Their best releases don't touch pre-hiatus GY!BE. Although they may be more consistent since Godspeed has been releasing a steady diet of garbage since 2012.

understandable, personally really enjoy Plantasia

>No doubt, really underrated
Absolutely based user.
>Have you listened to Girt's most recent material?
No, would you mind sharing ?
>Their best releases don't touch pre-hiatus GY!BE
[REE internally]
I haven't actually listened to them (DMST / GY!BE) in years but I cannot stand GY!BE's grandiosity. DMST always struck me as a more nuanced alternative.
Forgot that Fly Pan Am was on Constellation, so I'd throw them up as well.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor ruined their legacy by returning for a moneygrab (irconic coming from ancoms). If they had just done a yearlong tour in 2010 and 2011 I wouldn't have been opposed to that all as one last official sendoff for the fans. To actually continue the project with zero inspiration left in the tank was a god awful mistake.

Obviously.

That's fair. I appreciate their more subtle compositions myself that feature more than the usual long build---crescendo formula. Tracks like Antennas to Heaven, Motherfucker = Redeemer, and Albanian I hold as their best works because they flip that formula on its side.

The band died when Norsola, RTC, and finally Cawdron all left. Tim Herzog is a dreadful drummer that can single-handedly kill already flawed compositions on his own. Constellation did have a lot to gain by having their eminent band resurrected.

Thanks fella, listening now. I agree with you RE: GY!BE's standout tracks. Probably why I enjoy Exhaust (and their side projects as a whole minus Silver Mt. Zion) more than GY!BE itself.
