It is 'mind blowing' when you are 16 and marvel at the 'epic build up's'.
But truth be told, this is true. The thing that further flusters me with GY!BE, is their flaccid politicalness that is not too different from something like Green Day's American Idiot. It does not actually challenge or confront the listener like great art does (for example Alban Berg's opera Wozzeck - extraordinary art.) Not necessarily saying all art should be that way, but the fact that GY!BE is riding some faux-fuck-the-system aesthetic justifies criticism.
Also, if you want music that exceeds 'Storm' here are a few pretty basic ones:

i think this was one of the reasons why the band stopped playing. it felt ridiculous during the war etc, and several of the members instead used silver mt zion as an "angry outlet". either way, i dont think they do any of it to change things.
