Do people seriously end up hating bands they liked when they were younger?

Do people seriously end up hating bands they liked when they were younger?

I still like everything from my teen years. Maybe not as much, but still there's no malice or "I can't believe I used to like them!" attitude.

the hatred is repression of lingering fondness.

I get a little bit of cringe about a few bands but that's about it

I grew to find radiohead to be really dull and poppy, and their attempt at capturing experimental sound was just vapid.

ONE THING

regarding bands i started listening to in high school. I don't like Radiohead at all anymore. i still like some Pink Floyd. i still love Godspeed You! Black Emperor and pic-related

For most people, at least half the bands they listened to in their youth were the cool popular bands at the time, and they didn’t genuinely enjoy those bands. When they grow up, develop their own taste, and stop caring about trends, they think “man, I used to like that band?”

Yeah I still like all the shit I listened to when I was younger. I'm 26 now so I don't really get into much of the newer music anyways. (not a fan of rap at all)

I can't stand Three Cheers anymore but appreciate some of the hooks. I think Black Parade holds up really well.

Agree except they don't stop caring about trends. They just follow another trend

This is the only reasonable attitude for a music lover.

Linkin Park
MCR
Scar Symmetry
Disturbed
Slipknot
The Devil Wears Prada
So many songs that still slap from these guys years later.

i don’t hate much of who I used to listen to like in high school (post hardcore, punk and by metal mainly), but i just don’t care about them much

I DONT KNOW WHY

>I still like everything from my teen years
How old are you now??

I'm actually going through some bands I used to listen to.
My god I have become a picky bastard. Apocalyptica and Stone Sour were so heavy when I was 15. Good lord.

Scar Symmetry is the only one of those still putting out good stuff.

i used to like pretty terrible music when i was a little kid, like blood on the dancefloor.

other than that i kinda have a soft spot for what i used to like. i don't think it's too bad.

I can see the flaws in them a lot more easily now. I wouldn't say I hate any of them, but there are some I don't find enjoyable anymore. Currents is the best example of this for me.

I don't know if I'd call it hate, but there is music form my youth that just doesn't work for me anymore.
Linkin Park is the biggest example. I was going through a massive depression in my early twenties, and listened to a fuckton of Hybrid Theory, Reanimation, and Meteora.
Now they remind me too much of that time in my life, and pull me into a funk if I listen to them.
So again, not "hate", but more like that food you used to wolf by the bucket, but now can't touch without getting massive heartburn.

A lot of music I listened to as a teenager was good to me mainly because of my angst, but MCR still sounds great to me. No other music I listened to in that era is as emotive.

i feel embarrassment because i feel like i was trend hopping (it was listening to Yea Forumscore) now ive slowly started to develop my own taste and im happier

I don't hate anything I used to listen to but I do have the notion now that I'm older that a lot of it isn't as good as I used to think it was.

Depends on what you listened to when you were younger. Some bands seem rather tame or simple when you broaden your horizons but hating them is stupid. Also some of us were retarded enough to like bands like disturbed that very much deserve hate

i don't listen to almost anything i listened to as a teenager because i had bad decade ago Yea Forums taste l0l

Still listen to linkin parks trinity albums, Meteora, Reanimation, Hybrid Theory.

The atmosphere they were able to mix in with the turntables were on point.

if i like something i like it forever

that means your taste isn't growing. stagnant, or you're young

Yeah I notice all of the bands I did that with were all in the same year or two in my early teens so maybe I was a little lost there for a bit.
My favorite album at 16 is still my favorite at 34 though, but it wasn't trendy then either.

Actually I am more interested in what people still love as they get older or love even more. Some of the stuff I liked as a teen I like even more now.

i still appreciate the dismemberment plan

I used to like Queen a lot. Now its meh for me.
My taste refined

Maybe you just have bad taste.

if you listen to good music and diversify what you listen to you will never have phases, only maybe times where you listen to certain genres less or more
the reason people 'grow out of' music is because that music was dogshit and they didnt know any better
