Got the Residents and the Anal Cunt albums. Not RSD but I also got The Chameleons - What Does Anything Mean? Basically 2018 clear repress for 20$ which was the last of their 80s studio albums that I didn't have so that's pretty cool.
I’m enjoying laughing at people for buying physical media, and an outdated one at that. Will enjoy downloading rips in the following week
Posting from the last thread. Snagged the only copy of the Acid Mothers release they had and my buddy and I got the last copies of steroids
Ah shit I forgot about the Anal Cunt record!
any connecticut-dudes see fantano out shopping?
anyone talk to any qt's in line?
Here's the John Cage Meets Sun Ra dvd if anyone is interested. My full rip was mpeg2video and ac3 sound but I re-encoded it with h264 and acc to save space. Personally can't see much of a difference in the video but may upload the full 3 gig version with the audio commentary later.
mega.nz
>reach to grab steroids
>other dude is reaching too and takes it right before me
>shrug because record store day
>find other copy
>dude sees me with the other copy and high fives me
if you see this steroidsbro you're cool
Anyone got a rip of Saucerful?
Here's a vinyl rip of Steroids I did if anyone wants the warmth.
I got to the record store a little before seven, but the line really didn't start forming until nine. It was great being first in line. Does anyone want a more in depth look?
There isn't one on red and I can't imagine there will be a decent rip for a couple days but who knows.
Nice, glad they had another copy
Thanks for the conversion, user! Here's the CD of the concert in .flac that was released a few years ago from my own personal collection.
mega.nz
>320 .mp3
You're a faggot for not uploading a 24 bit 192khz .flac rip of it. But thanks for the amateur attempt. Post your lineage as well.
i'm ride's son you fucking shitter
Cool. thANKS.
the 3 gigs will be appreciated too
Yeah the video is from a VHS anyway so I didn't see the need to keep it as mpeg2. Plus ~400mb is a lot more manageable for people to download than 3gb.
Thanks for the FLAC CD rip.
I’m very pleased to finally have vinyl versions of the first 2 amazing solo records of Frank Black
There were some other Sun Ra videos that came with the dvd so I'm packaging it all up together and will also upload that.
>Rush - Hemispheres picture disc
Hell yeah, I've got an original pressing of that.
show more cat
>the fall being fucking $40 for a single disk of music made on an ipad
oh well, at least it's not the $100 that people are asking for for the original pressing
>$40 for a single disk of music made on an ipad
This is why I didn't go for it. I like The Fall and wouldn't having it in my collection but not for $40.
nice boner
Does Frank Black not get you hard?
>Yes
thats the only one I wanted that I couldn't get. Picked up Rush and Beefheart though
Here's my full rip of the John Cage Meets Sun Ra dvd. It includes a commentary track (in addition to the regular audio stream) on the main video and a couple supplementary Sun Ra videos.
Ripped using MakeMKV pulling the mpeg2video and ac3 audio streams. The dvd didn't have any decent tagging for the chapters and streams (or at least makemkv didn't pick up on them) and I didn't bother adding any.
>mega.nz
The Fall was $40 where you were? I got mine for $20.
Some shops jack up the price because they know people will buy them. Another user had mentioned a shop had Steroids for $70 or something.
mine was $18 lol
the reason I picked it up desu it wasn't super on my list but it was cheap
>it's vinyl
Why do they call it record store day then?
got all I wanted
woke up at six am to book it to the nearest store and get my hands on steroids. forgot to confirm if they had it so I was sweating buckets, but I finally got it. so glad, its fucking awesome.
Was anywhere else just packed to the brim with boomers spending $300 on dad rock?
>show up to local store I called yesterday to make sure they’d have the Devo box
>4 minutes after opening
>no box
>make calls
>only place in city (New Orleans) is in the middle of bourbon st during a music fest
>pay for parking a mile away power walk through drunkards
I may have stepped in filthwater in flip flops and accidentally pushed a fat hipster chick in the shop a little but by golly I got it
Missed out on Trout Mask Replica lads. Since it's an RSD "First" more copies should come later in the year right?
Hard to say honestly.
Don't do this to me user :(
They’re likely going to press it again, at least I would imagine. Third Man issued it for their subscription service with all that extra stuff and now they’re doing it for RSD. They seem to be big on the record judging by all the effort they put into it so I’m guessing they’ll press it again.
By the way, does anyone know what color the record is and what comes inside of it? I’m not opening mine lol (pls no bully. I don’t open limited stuff unless I really don’t give a shit)
How’d you miss it? The store I was in had many
The picture opens up to be a lyric sheet.
Oooh cool. Thanks for the photo, user
FUCK RESELLERS.
That's all I want to say.
I think if it sells really well at shops they'll do another run and cash in on it. But they may want to keep it within the confines of RSD.
Thanks.
Just watched it. Very nice.
Cage pales in comparison in this performance to Sun Ra tho.
>picture discs
How much did you spent this Record Store Day?
$180
Definitely a bit lackluster from Cage. Maybe Sun Ra's cosmic energy messed with him
why would you buy a record you're not gonna listen to?
~$160
$240 cdn
$273
The Best of Townes Van Zandt
Twin Peaks Season Two Music and More
Herbie Hancock - Dedication
Also
>there are people who unironically bought Weezer's Teal album today
>I don’t open limited stuff unless I really don’t give a shit
Not bullying but I have questions I'm curious about regarding this.
Why wouldn't you open it to listen to it? Why would you buy some limited if you don't give a shit? Are you at all considering re-selling?
If you aren't reselling it and enjoy the album I really don't see why you wouldn't want to spin it. I could see why if you have a crappy turntable and don't want to risk fucking shit up until you get a nicer one.
haha yeah probably.
Lmao. And when Cage was about to perform for the 3rd time and Sun Ra was like - Do you want me to play something in the background?
40 bux
Was at redscroll this morning, didn’t see him there.
Just picked up Sunn O))) - Life Metal
couldn't find steroids, but thats okay
Some good stuff on it, I just couldnt pick it up
couldn't find spacebomb but i got steroids
its pretty good. pressing is mixed. absolutely no surface noise but there are some minor pops and skips. i cant download it, because the fucking download code website is saying the zip isn't even in the folder.
First store I went to had 15 copies of Steroids, they were all gone by the time I was halfway through the line. Pissed me off. Went to three other stores after that but only one of them was participating in RSD, and they only had two titles (Fetti and Lost in Translation). Didn't find the Residents record at all, but I did get the 'private press' edition of the Groundhogs LP, which was also top of my list.
Was surprised by the variety of good shit that was available this year regardless.
That last guess is part of it. I need a better turntable, for sure. I’m not gonna spin shit until I get one. Other than that, I like having mint, sealed copies of these types of things for collectability purposes. I guess it’s like those guys who buy action figures and don’t open them. My records sit nicely on my shelf so I can admire them. I don’t mind so much because often times I hear that a lot of these pressings sound about the same as a digital copy, regardless of the setup. Still, I might open them someday. Not sure. It depends on the record and how limited it is. Definitely not going to resell them unless I really grow out of the music.
>Groundhogs
absolutely based. you're the only other person on here who I've seen get Groundhogs
anyone have rips of The Flaming Lips - King's Mouth, Mastodon - Stairway to Nick John and High On Fire - Bat Salad?
>like those guys who buy action figures and don’t open them
Yeah I was also thinking of that. Still think it's a bummer that you don't spin them since (if you're not manhandling them) the covers will still be mint. You do make a good point about the digital copies though. But in the end it's your money so do what makes you happy.
My local record store had live music, free food, and free beer.
Same. Honestly always feel spoiled because the shop always has great stock and I hear other anons crappy stories.
I nearly got "Life Metal" but decided to wait for a leak to see what it was like. Luckily it's unremarkable so I'm glad I didn't buy it.
>The Beatles - Revolver (Mono pressing)
>Pink Floyd - Piper at the Gates of Dawn
>Elton John - Madman Across the Water
I also got Crimson Tide on laserdisc for no reason other than it costing only one dollar.
I went over to pick up some weird reissue or single or whatever but I ended up just buying normal copies of Surfer Rosa and Buoys because literally nothing they had interested me
Mind ripping Saucerful for us?
>Acid Mothers
Surprised I haven't seen more people cop this.
>He fell for the RSD scam...
HAHAHAHA. Why the fuck wouldn't you just buy the fucking used versions of Yes and Prince. What the hell is wrong with this current generation? You people are RETARDS. What a fucking total scam.
>Death Grips
>he refuses to contribute to his local record store's biggest day of the year because "muh commercialization"
The Prince album is a new pressing. The YES albums are used.
local record store got nothing, I mainly wanted TMR and steroids, but no luck
brought some Hermeto Pascoal, Fela Kuti and Steve Reich, tho
Fuck supporting the record stores, I don't give a shit about vinyl. And fuck all the hipster scalping assholes who buy into this overpriced, overrated shit.
t. sad
Are you in Texas?
Nah Wisconsin.
>show up at small shitty local record store in fuckville, Florida
>10am
>Do you guys have Steroids?
>"Sorry, someone showed up at 6am and bought every copy"
>clench fist very tight
>deep breathe
>I'll just take a Trout Mask Replica then, thank you
>all these anons getting free beer
I got nothin.
>Sopranos soundtrack
>Lost in Translation soundtrack
>Sunn O)))
>DG
>Flaming Lips
>RZA
>Teyana Taylor
>Prince extended remixes comp
plus
>Buoys
>Tangerine Reef (bargain bin)
>Americ Anfootball 3
Today was a good day
Went into my local record store and uh I guess SWMRS is playing
I collect wav/flac files. no overpriced bumpy plastic for me thanks
Yeah I'm lucky cause my city is big enough on the brewing scene that people love an excuse to release a new brew and thus the free beer.
HOLELOTTADICK
Grips from today, all the exclusives were $40+ and I wasn't about to drop that much cash on one record. Contortions is original/
You better be an actual boomer
Also have a Residents - B.S not pictured.
they overcharged, which is against rsd regulations as far as i know. user could probably get a rfund.
~120 CAD
may not be able to eat for the next few days desu
nice. I got the last copy of Life Metal at the store I went to. I really enjoyed it.
No pic but I got The Dream Syndicate thing and the Astral Weeks 10”
How much did Baby Sex cost?
What about Steroids
Was interested in those but store I didn’t go to is the one that had them and they apparently sold them immediately.
I paid 30 for b.s and 23.99 for steroids
Curious how Steroids will sell online, I remember the Interview and Fashion Week thing selling a normal record price but not ending up being super expensive online soon after
Hope BS doesn’t get too high like WB did
They are both fetching high amounts on discogs already. We will see if it lasts.
Went to two places near me and neither received anything for RCD, pretty pissed
How much was the DEVO box?
I reached over some cuck to grab it but he was flipping through all of them and passed it and I was third in line so I didn’t feel as bad
>buying death grips vinyl
yikes dudes, have some respect for yourself
Where do you think you are?
My friends and I went to the first shop which had 6 copies of steroids but the line was like 100 people long. They waited there while I went to another smaller store and managed to be in the front of the line, they had two copies but I could only snag one. Called my friend who was coming from upstate and he managed to grab a copy for my friend so it all worked out
contrarian faggot detected
yeah enjoy the digitally recorded memery on your suitcase crosley bro
$6.99
>crosley
where did that strawman shit come from, my dude?
mine was 120
I got mine for $113 and I assume plus tax.
Fuckin couldn't find In Her Gentle Jaws in 4 separate stores. My go to ordered some but their ordered wasn't fulfilled. Jelly as fuck.
At my store there was a group of seven normies who had been waiting since 3:00AM, all for fucking Greta Van Fleet
WHAT
Why didn't you get the 7" Julien Baker put out for RSD?
Not a huge fan of 7". The size is a turn off for me.
That's what she said ;)
I understand I don't buy LPs bigger than my penis size as well
Prince cassette?
I definitely don't envy people with large members
A used copy of The Yes Album. I didn't buy any RSD stuff.
Well don't envy me, my man. My weiner is painfully average, or less than average. I'm honestly too afraid to really measure it.
Why is the cover for this so ugly? I still copped but... why? I get what it’s supposed to be but it’s hard to tell upon first glance
As long as it works nothing to be ashamed of!
went to every record store in 50 mile radius
every one was sold out of Steriods and not one had received the BS album at all
I'm pissed
Got SILY and Pet Sounds on vinyl and Either/Or on CD
:( I wish I knew it worked I haven't had sex in like 10 years
Haha I haven't had sex in 19 years haha
I honestly feel for you, dude. Seriously. I don't see myself having sex in the next 5 to 10 years. I'm just so disappointed with how I turned out.
Sex is overrated desu
yeah well I'd like to decide that now and not after a lack of sex for like 10 years
Steroids flexers smd
How's the Lou Reed?
I was considering getting it, and my shop still had the one copy when I left, so I might go back tomorrow to cop if it's still there.
40? Rough Trade had it for 20.
Got there like 8 hours after they opened and picked up Yes. Also picked up a used copy of Exit.... Stage Left
Just started playing it.
First couple songs in, and it sounds alright. Sort of typical late 90's adult pop/rock.
> not a heroin type mood to it
thanks senpai
I fucking love it, I don't like how laura palmer on the inside is jpg'd to hell though
Haul was amazing this year.
RSD:
Yes - Yes
Twin Peaks Season 2 OST
Santana - Breaking Down the Door
Non-RSD:
U.K. - Danger Money
Yes - Relayer
Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Tarkus
anyone get any good prog pickups?
Heres what I got. Went to just look, left with 100 bucks less in my pocket.
The fucking prices the Lost in Translation soundtracks are already selling for on discogs are unreal
They'll probably flatten out.
I bought one, but there's no way there were 8,000 other niggas like me out there.
Really wanted the South Park Album, which is the whole reason I actually got up for RSD. Sadly none within 100 miles of me had a single copy. I did pick up the Louis Armstrong album though, sucker for classic Disney. Ended up buying from a reseller on ebay for the SP album.
Pic?
looks like you got fucking robbed holy shit
Anyone got the Ghost World soundtrack?
>when people only get non RSD titles on RSD
Yikes
Some stores do store-wide discounts on RSD
lots of stores bring out desirable albums on that day for those who can't get the exclusives their looking for.
Yee, found the 40th anniversary Suspiria soundtrack
jas jelisek - signals bulletin
matt carlson - particle language
fang island - major
cult of luna - mariner
the caretaker - stage 6
the only RSD redord i really wanted was the Alex Zhang Hungtai release but none of the places locally had it. probably should have picked up the sunn 0))) record though
> finally finished listening to them all
I'm honestly not disappointed with any of these. They're all going to see some replay.
> favorite is Fragile, a 2nd hand gets
I had already soent a lot of money, so I decided not to get a purple vinyl Tame Impala record.
Nice, my friend also picked up a copy of Fragile. Mostly because he's a weeb and wants the Roundabout, but hopefully he enjoys the rest.
> 1st heard song through meme
> listened to rest of album on YT
> liked it, saw it today in 2nd hand section
> $7 with rsd discount
gonna go back and see what my local record store has. they still had a copy of TMR when they closed yesterday lmao
RSD:
>Picnic of Love
>Trout Mask Replica
>Twin Peaks Season 2 and More
Non-RSD
>Zappa in New York 40th Anniversary
>Just Another Band From L.A.
>Mothers at the Fillimore East
went to 3 stores later in the day, none of them had Guitar World According to Frank Zappa but the third had TMR, might drive to another one tomorrow and see what i can see
>sad that my record store didn't have any copies of the Blood on the Tracks test pressing
>go home
>look it up on discogs
>realize they had like 3 copies of it and i didnt notice because i didnt know what it looked like and passed over it every time
Steroids
Hot rats
Future days
Strawberry jam
Comfy day, lads
>turn up a day after rsd
>still manage to get what i was after
who /comfy/ here?
No way The Crow didn't sell out on RSD
>be record store employee
>one of my really nice regulars didn't show up for once
>remember I added him on facebook years ago
>check out of curiosity what he's up to
>apparently he died of lymphoma 2 months ago
RIP Randy, you were a cool dude
they still have 6 copies lmao
damn thats heavy
>worked at the store and got dibs
I forgot RSD was today before taking a co-worker's shift. Oh well, there wasn't anything I really wanted all that bad. Ended up getting Zenyatta Mondatta in decent condition for four bucks. Still salty I wasn't able to cop Piper at the Gates of Dawn from last year
Sorry bois
Commit die
holy shit, did you buy them all at the same time?
At work now but it went something like this
>Dragonfly - Dragonfly (RSD Exclusive)
>Weyes Blood - Titanic Rising
>Swell Maps - A Trip to Marineville
>Cleaners from Venus - Living With Victoria Grey
It wasn't even my intention to get this many honestly. I just kept going to my nearby stores and found them. I'm probably gonna give like one away and the other to a friend.
holy fucking based
Probably should desu
I probably should honestly
>xxx
Idk man i kinda like early x everything else of him is kinda wack, but to each their own
Just came back from my local record store.
I grabbed
>Bon Jovi - Slippery when wet
>ZZ Top - Eliminator
>The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
>The Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour
>Revolting Cocks - You Goddamned Son of a Bitch
I tried asking if they could order in
>Killing Joke - Night Time
>Skinny Puppy - Bites
But it turns out those are imports that they'd have trouble snagging that so that was a bummer.
Also almost grabbed Dead Can Dance - Into the labyrinth but decided I'd grab it another time.
youtu.be
Got there late and unfortunately missed all the RSD stuff. Really wanted Trout Mask but I'm sure I'll find it another time. Picked up
Souvlaki - Slowdive
Howlin Wolf Album
The Wild Hunt - The Tallest man on earth
Lonesome Crowded West
Wait just a minute... did they tell you they only had Safe As Milk left when you asked them if they had Captain Beefheart LPs???
bump
>visit local mom n pop
>some cool stuff, a single LP was like $33 and up
>bought a CD of the same album and Van Halen 1 for the cost of 1 LP
>almost bought Devo B sides LP for my dad but he wouldnt use it
Im free from the vinyl sinkhole at last
