What went so wrong with Fever Ray? Why do respectable female musicians sell out for the "strong independent feminist" marketing scheme?
What went so wrong with Fever Ray...
Because feminism is hip right now, and what's hip makes money. No shit.
That is what I implied with my question, so thank you for your worthless insight. The thing is they do not need that because they are established musicians
It's a shame, the first Fever Ray album was so good
I only know the one fever ray song from breaking bad. Honestly I thought fever ray was a dude
>music making money
>feminist music making money
>hip
Their new image and stage performance is ultra cringe but I could look past that if the music wasn’t bad. Unfortunately it is bad. How the fuck do you go from a solid 9/10 to a 1/10 in back to back releases?
Beyonce, Rihana, Solange, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift etc. Dishonest feminism is trendy and makes money
Go back to one of your mumble rap/pop threads, kid
I think Karen was 15 years ahead of it actually and it drove her crazy because of how unrewarding it was for the bulk of the time
I'm guessing she's on a lot of hard drugs?
Fever Ray has always been far left though. It's got nothing to do with selling out in her case.
She's always been a feminist. Her social and political views were subtle in her early material with The Knife, but as their discography went on those views became more apparent and obvious, culminating with Shaking The Habitual.
some people are actually feminists you know, believe it or not it's especially common in women. also feminism at its core is something that nobody reasonable should have any issue with, and you shouldn't conflate the female supremacist wackjobs with feminism as a concept
Fever Ray and her brother have always been leftists. Their first albums were very political, especially Silent Shout.
However in the 00s looking like a post-modernist, decadent freak was not a thing, somehow. The aesthetics weren’t completely twisted: most relevant leftist musicians still looked like people and weren’t trying to make themselves hideous for shock purposes. The music was also significantly better, though I don’t think the new Fever Ray record, sonically, is really much worse than her first one (it’s the same type of dark synthpop really) — I think people are just turned off by the ugliness of it all and I understand completely. These days the leftist music scene is full of really disgusting looking people like Arca, who probably eats feces daily, and Sophie. Even Björk has resorted to disgusting aesthetics.
I think society needs to start differentiating between feminism and what appears to be a sort of self-destructionism that women engage in as a reaction to society.
Feminism should be about celebrating gender differentiation, and the things that women naturally are.
Fever Ray is now about smearing makeup all over your face, deliberately looking like shit and making whiney awkward music in a gigantic tantrum that is a reaction to something. That isn't feminism. I think it's probably because Karin is obviously now a bit of a dyke and doesn't like being shoehorned into the role of being a straight woman, she feels like she's more something between a man and a woman.
The tantrum behaviour I suppose is some kind of catharsis from the inner tension of somebody whose sexuality isn't fully aligned with their body.
I think all of this is being caused by pesticides and plastics messing with people's hormones.
Shaking the Habitual is meta-feminism
Trite, obvious feminism would be Plunge
Lol fuck off shill its not 2014 anymore
>Fever Ray and her brother have always been leftists
so were most people, including me. the left is insane now
if only the right's response wasn't to out-insane them
>muh draft dodger
Why are the left openly pro-war now?
She's literally from Cuckistan isn't she? What did you think she stood for?
The Knife have been political in some of their albums, but Fever Ray's first album was not political or feminist. Fever Ray's second album and Karin's new image are just cringeworthy exploitation of the Twitter-era-feminism fad
>thinking right-wingers weren't the ones most opposed to Trump before he got pushed through by his fanbase that just wants the whole system to burn to the ground
Also, we're talking about European politics so your country's President has zero relevance. Fever Ray is from the country Bernie Sanders jacks off to in his second home. By default, her leftism was never considered sane in the US.
Silent Shout was the only good thing they ever released, and even that had quite a few bad tracks on it.
>the Shaking the Habitual tour where they didn't even perform and just did interpretive dance along to mp3 files played over a sound system
what
the right is no where NEAR the left, dude. if you don't get why trump won, you need to educate yourself a bit about REAL America, which, btw, doesn't represent all "left-right" politics.
You fucking idiot did you even listen
Western women are the most privileged class in society today, so what do they have to complain about?
The new Joker movie looks great.
Both sides are equally crazy, but only in that they cling to ridiculous positions and then stake out claims on every other position to make sure they never agree with the other side on anything. It's the flaw of a two-party system, first world countries don't have this problem because we have more than two parties and you can have levels of extremism that you vote for but the two-party system always has to play to its most far-out extremists.
...
American here and so much this. Screencapped and Black pilled
That made sense though as it was a commentary on how when you go to see almost any synth pop band, it's all just tracks playing, barely anything is done live because it's too hard to reproduce synth music due to all the production work.
So they thought to themselves "why lie to the audience"? And did something visually more interesting than just the two of them pretending to play their music live.
Because its hip to be femynyst these days, and it makes money
Theres no such thing as a "two-party system," friend. That implies that *you may only vote for or join* either of two parties. But actually you can join and vote for any of dozens of parties. You can start your own political party and be the only person in it, for all the good thatll do. The fact is that vast, vast majority of Americans identify with the two *major* parties.
t. ignoramus
No, your system actively enforces a two-party system. I'm not sure what would be the best way to fix it while preserving your Constitution but in real countries parties get punished for sucking because people vote for another party that is on their same side of the spectrum but not sucking balls. There are more than two parties represented in the actual legislative branch. In the US there exists multiple parties but none of them will ever get a single seat in Congress so they don't really exist. All the power is with the two parties so every issue is yay from one party and nay from the other instead of a system with 3+ parties where some issues are yay from multiple parties and nay from multiple parties and the more negotiable details differ between parties. See, the crazy lefties would be some sort of "Progressive Party" if you had more than two parties and then they'd just be a fringe party that could be ignored or would have to work to compromise. But now they are actual Democrats so their positions become what you are voting for if you vote Democrat even if you meant Democrat as in the moderates. The vast majority of Americans can not possibly align with either of the major parties because the positions are completely arbitrary and flip-flop on a moment's notice but because you believe in one thing that one party supports and the other is against, you have to buy all the other extremist bullshit that comes along with it. The majority of the people in the US seem to be voting against the party they hate more than they vote for the party they like.
