Yeah, '92 here. There were definitely some house music songs that got a lot of airplay even after they first came out and the Brit/Big Beat stuff like Fatboy Slim and then Moby was huge too. There were also records that weren't really catchy enough for as much widespread radio play but because of their videos were on MTV and such. My older brother was really into Jamiroquai because of the video for "Virtual Insanity". The Prodigy for the most part were too hard for most stations, except for a few alt rock ones, but Breathe and Smack My Bitch Up and Firestarter were massively popular on MTV.

Once you got into the early 2000s car commercial kind of shit like "Days Go By" I think that kind of dancey sound started to evaporate from the public attention.

I mean, many producers/DJs break out at a young age (ie. 17 - 22), like Skream, Joy O, etc. but a lot of that's down to having bare free time to produce/practice/make connections when you're young. But for everyone of them, there's tons other that never made it anywhere or had a slow burn career really honing their craft and finally "made it" aged like 30 or 35 or whatever.
