>implying music theory doesn't support his brilliance
For me it's Paul.
>implying george martin, who knew music theory, wasn't the driving force of the beatles' best albums
lmao
I imagine that the basics of pop music are in fact the basics of theory.
I find it hilarious that autists here literally think all these boomer musicians would sit down with pencil and paper and write down scores for their songs like it was the 18th century, instead of just fucking around on an instrument until they came up with enough parts that sounded good to their ears and pieced them together.
But he didn't produce Let It Be
Yeah that's why it's a shitty blues record
>sit down with pencil and paper and write down scores
Literally nobody thinks that.
It's hilarious that you think reinventing the wheel via trial and error is somehow better and faster than just learning what sounds good in the first place and then applying that to "fucking around on an instrument".
Music theory drones are just programmed with theory and they have no real feel for it.
They make music with as much soul as a computer algorithm.
You have no idea how songwriting works.
This post is nonsensical gibberish.
I'm only saying that thinking these people don't know any music theory is nonsensical bullshit. Knowing SOMETHING is a predisposition to compose or play music; whether it's subconscious knowledge from listening or "fucking around" with music. You will literally come to the same conclusions via trial and error if you don't read a theory book or something for example.
Making music isn't the romanticised subconscious act antithetical to emotion or soul that you fairy tale faggots believe in by the way, it's a rational process.
I guarantee you that it's harder to make good pop music than good classical music
nah, but fuck music theory elitists. i always live by the intro to this youtube.com
The list of good and relevant classical composers from the beginning is much smaller than the list of good pop artists in the last 50 years would disagree with you. Got any actual arguments for your retarded opinion?
>it's a rational process
If your music is rational and boring
The idea that theory could be a negative knowledge comes from a bullshit romantic notion that good art is purely unconscious or emotional and that systematization and logic are antithetical to it. Intuition alone could never result in the monstrous feat of borderline engineering that is a great symphony.
An emotional person is not necessarily a good artist. A good artist is the one that knows how to code emotions into his art the right way; it's a rational process. Deal with it.
Love when I go to jam with new people and ask them to play a simple 1 4 5 progression and they look at me like I'm retarded and say "sorry man I don't use music theory, I don't want to limit my creativity with rules". So they play an E power chord for an hour and let their creative juices really flow!
Paul's mediocre
yeah neither do you because hes right. if you think hes wrong you are probably new to song writing, it's pretty obvious man
>says the unsuccessful tard who makes boring and childish music
yep or worse, the endless meandering chord progressions with no detectable rise/fall
Except the Beatles literally fucked around on their instruments playing day-long gigs in Germany 7 days a week. Yes they recognize patterns that work, but it's a combination of learning other people's music and fucking around on their instruments, not following something they read in a book. That's the case with the majority of these boomer musicians. Occasionally you'd get someone who was classically trained, usually a roadie who gets recruited for keys, but most music written from rock/pop musicians is quite literally fucking around on their instruments.
Did you already have this post in your head and decided to click on a couple random anons?
He's a confused seething autist and so are you, chief.
Based Jammers

To be honest as a composer i try to forget music theory as much as possible to keep my composition as free as possible.
But as a musician, i fucking use it, everyday.
It's hilarious how black and white you autists view music knowledge.
Not as hilarious as how bland your opinions are.
>implying a simple 1 4 5 progression sounds better than playing an E power chord for an hour
WTF is with all the hard panning back then? Did nobody own headphones when they invented stereo mixing?
based and redpilled
>needs easy panning
and its the shittiest beatles album. your point?
You will never write a good song
The Virgin Theorist: Jacob Collier
The Chad Jammer: Paul, John, George and that other guy
problem that limits them greatly. you cant write great counterpoint that way or have full view of the structure of a picee, each note, each rhythmic idea, how to develop the the material, to create good harmony.
its like telling a friend a story compared to writing down a novel and checking the whole thing
A lot of the music of The Who was notated down; The United States of America and Zappa wrote their stuff down as well.
The Beatles used to write their songs down, even in a basic manner, just to indicate how long they needed to play something, or the repeats. Writing a song down can be as simple as indicating the number of bars, chords and the rhythm.
this is like saying writing down lines to indicate how many paragraphs in a page is the equivalent of writing down the actual words, musical notation is for the educated
Oh, it's nowhere near close, but it's not like they weren't even aware of an outline of their music. They knew about form and shape and all that. It was written down, even in a basic manner.
>headphones
>1966
They didn't start calling them cans until later.
>not using headphones as a reference for mixing in the modern day as a majority of the market now listens through headphones
Never thought about it but that's true. Actual hi-fi stereos far less common than earbuds.
Thats what I mean. You have to mix for the market, not yourself
