Are synth people "special"?
Like not in radioheads creeps(TM) special, but like in special school special.
Are synth people "special"?
just talentlet cope
keyboardist in general are “special”, ultimate cucks of all time
i have synths my mommy calls me special AMA
what’s better than an op-1?
Can someone refer me to a manual or explanation video about the fucking patchboard on this thing?? I’ve had it for years and know how to get great sounds out of it but I have no clue how patchboard works other than being able to patch in vibrato for the expression wheel and an octave jump for the button
I want to learn to play the keyboard. How are synths different?
pretty sure the owners manual has a bunch of sample patches
an op-2
keyboard can be a part of a synth, but not necessary
OP-Z
ohhhh, did they work good together too?
Synths are expensive?
>synth ppl are retards Haha
>anyone who was angry at my thread help me use the synth I paid $500 for????
i dunno i dont have the OP-Z only OP-1
Yea but it doesn’t explain how it really works, it just gives examples. It’s like that line “give a man a fish and he’ll eat for a day but teach him how to fish and he’s set for life”
I’m obviously not OP retard
Don't keyboards have synth presets?
Also I only paid $300 for it like 4 years ago
Are you talking about actual keyboard players in bands, or just bedroom hobbyists who don't actually play live shows or make music anybody listens to?
bump for MS20 knowledge
What the fuck did he even mean by this
ahh, maybe you should research modular synthesis cause honestly the ms-20 is about as basic as you can get and just looking at should spark your creativity, so if you’re not getting it you might wanna brush up on what you can do etc.
Yea, I guess. The patchboard just seems very particular, like you have to know exactly what jacks outputs sound, which ones manipulate the sound, which ones route thru which filters, etc so it’s kind of hard to just plug in cords randomly to try and find something that makes a sound. Guess I’ll just look into modular synthesis
learn how basic modular synthesis works from the ground up. the ms-20 is a pre-patched synthesizer, so think of it as a modular with certain default patch cables already inside it. the patchbay gives you access to certain points in the signal path to defeat the default routings. watch this video and treat it as a modular with some of the patch cables already built in (i.e., vcos are already connected to the mixer which is connected to the filter, etc).

if you want more depth read theory and technique of electronic music by allen strange, it's the definitive text on analog synthesis
synthesis is sculpting sound with different techniques using sound waves basically, a keyboard is just one of many means to trigger envelopes to control these sounds
Thanks! I’ll definitely look into it
the patch bay is by far the most inspiring part of that instrument for me, so I hope you're able to get into it. don't plug outputs to outputs or inputs to inputs, but other than that have fun on your journey :)
You should read at least the first 20 parts of this, that should help sort you out.
guess the link would help :)
sonicbloom.net
LMNC is based as fuck
Thanks anons, it’s the best synth I’ve utilized so far so I’m excited to open up even more sonic possibilities with learning this shiiit.
i want an ms20 mini but supercheap help
I think he's asking if people who choose this as their hobby are more likely to be on the autism spectrum.
i plan to take a 2 weeks vacation to simply force myself to produce the most i can with my equipment. no sun light, no going out, no cucked vacation in the caribean, but just machines and tape.
any drugs that go with this?
200mg of oxycodone
>oxycodone
but that drug is addictive, user :O
Adderall for intense focus and weed for thinking outside of the box
just smoke some weed man anything else is gonna ruin your productivity long term
Men? Only if they are into modular shit. Women into synths? Completely gaga
>Men? Only if they are into modular shit.
what if one is a DX7 FM purist?
bump
What's your equipment?
FM is still rooted in the realms of music unlike modular toys
there's a difference between any other kind of keyboardist and classical pianists though
The former are weirdo nerds and the latter are soulless autists
DX7
CZ101
JASPER MONOSYNTH
MACHINEDRUM
TASCAM 414
A COUPLE R2R MACHINES
AND DIY SYNTH MODULES
and other stuff
>dx7, cz101, tascam
Nice, I'm really thinking about getting a multitrack recorder (either analog or digital). Hate recording on the computer.
>I'm really thinking about getting a multitrack recorder
its a breeze. you focus like a scalpel on what youre doing, time flies and you end up with tons of music, great stuff.
I have the plugin form and I've been trying to work my way into it and found this, might help you.
20patch.constructingtowers.com
Online database of MS20 patches, maybe you can reverse engineer patches that way.
Holy shit this is a goldmine, thanks user
You're most welcome c: I knew it'd come in handy for something one day
supporting this
aaaaaaaaa
is this the comfy synth thread..or should you start one?
