Not he, but my fave song is Map Ref. And album is 154.
They Might Be Giants, unquestionably. Their first 4 albums are as catchy as music can possibly get.
why does Yea Forums hate good production? Like I've finally given a lot of the shit I see you dudes post a shot and it's just always garbage production 80% of the time. I don't get it.
Post an example of our bad production and youre good production
OP's band is a great example of bad production. I would consider something like Def Leppard or Van Halen as good production from that same era. The meticulousness and careful planning are far more apparent in the latter bands and the care and love behind the records is easily heard. Certainly, Mission of Burma can't be called a project without love or care, but certainly, there was a lot given to the dogs. I get what they were doing, but I think later iterations of emo do this far better in terms of clarity and execution, to say otherwise is plain contrarianism. In the risk of sounding glib, it's not to say there isn't a 'strange allure'. Also, the vocal recording in Academy Fight Song, they should have been a lot more dynamic with the mic gain on the vocals because you hear clear clips at times and it's like, what the fuck-- that's amateur hour shit.
Elvis Costello is a hook machine on those first 4 or 5 albums
>I would consider something like Def Leppard or Van Halen as good production from that same era
You're trying too hard

What is your opinion on the production of this song?
What the fuck does that even mean? It's the god honest truth. I think Ted Templeman and Mutt Lange are fantastic producers, Ted Templeman being the better of the two considering his wide background-- all of yacht rock considers itself in debt to him I would wager.
For
Why does it matter what I have to say anyways? I like metal even past any arbitrary date Yea Forums thinks is bad. Shit, I bump the fuck out of the new I Prevail album-- you faggots can't stand anything fun.
If you honestly want my opinion, I think the dynamic range in that song is fantastic and I think the record fuzz serves that exact purpose. I would contend that most shitty mixes in the vinyl era could be exactly that because of the vinyl sound, it faked headroom.
>I think the dynamic range in that song is fantastic and I think the record fuzz serves that exact purpose
At least you have some taste.
if you can afford good production your music probably sucks
Quit trying to live and consume in antithesis of some non-existant 'other'. Because at the end of the day all you're doing is consuming. Nothing more, nothing less. Also, the verb bus they use in that track for the acoustic guitar is very nice and serves to once again, assist in the dynamic range experience of that song.
Weezer
You are an actual mongoloid with no justifications for your tastes other than a fucking dumb rule of thumb.
>Quit trying to live and consume in antithesis of some non-existant 'other'.
You're quite presumptuous.
It's the vibe I've gotten here for quite some time now as I cannot point to anything else-- I can't give motive to why people like things but damn, that motive sure checks the fuck out.
>I dont like something therefore everyone else is pretending
At the end of the day this place is a stop on many PR groups' roundabouts to shill their shit and most of you dumbasses eat it right up because they know exactly what your M/O's shadow looks like. I have heard Yea Forums come up in conversation twice this year as one of the places you put into rotation. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong-- all I know is that there are habits in consumption and for some reason, this board follows them.
Also, I never said anything about pretending. You guys are just /really/ contrarian.
literally what
Have you heard the MBV cover of that?

What is it, then? Enjoying some background noise to self-reflection? Man, get the fuck over yourself, if you could take away all the bullshit branding that lives around, here's the key phrase, entertainment-- then you might have an argument. Though, right now, what we live in doesn't lend itself well to anything anyone could call art considering the totalizing conditions that are built in the process of marketing or selling an album to dilettante elitists like all of you.
agreed my based friend
PEOPLE DID NOT LIKE THAT MAN MAX ERNST
>Man, get the fuck over yourself, if you could take away all the bullshit branding that lives around, here's the key phrase, entertainment-- then you might have an argument.
>thinking people appreciate or don't appreciate music because of "marketing" or "branding
>projecting your own reliance on non-musical aspects to form your opinions on music onto other people
That's funny, I got into both husker du and mission of burma at the same time and equate them too. Husker du is definitely better tho, sc&m is mob only great release. Vs. Is just okay
>muh projection meme
>muh npc/Wojak variation
>he can't affirm or perhaps even entertain the idea that the context that these artists have built around them affirm the choices of consumption that many make

Aka NPCs such as yourself
Okay, care to explain something about what you like? Why do you actually like it?
I appreciate the music I listen to because of its musical aspects, such as composition, production or technique. I don't care about what any adverts or critics tell me to like or not like. I can't recall that ever influencing my opinion on any music.
