Trout Mask Replica is the Dark Souls of music; it is widely perceived to be difficult and challenging, when in reality it is just deeply flawed. Pseuds and incels will rationalize these flaws away and feel that they're very deep and intellectual for liking something so unpopular, but don't realize that the reason it's unpopular in the first place is because it is simply bad.

Like Dark Souls, this album is fun. It's fun to listen to, and you can listen to it over and over again, and it never gets boring. That's as far as the connection between the two goes.

I "got" this album the first time I listened to it. I think it sounds good and I enjoy listening to it. I had a harder time getting into the Velvets.

I did. I remember when I listened to the first Velvet Underground album and half of the tracks, the noisier ones, I didn't like, and it took a while for me to appreciate them. I was expecting something similar with Trout Mask Replica, but I just really enjoyed it all the way through.

Just because you’re used to 40 min indie rock albums doesn’t mean this is too long. Every composition brings something interesting and groundbreaking to the table. You would probably complain a Wagner opera or a Bach mass is too long.

The skits are funny and serve as a breather from the tough compositions. If you don’t like humor in your music, get over yourself.

Jesus dude, it's a great album but it's not THAT great. I got it on the first time, it's not that unbelievable, so did loads of other people.

Trout Mask Replica is the dark souls of music in that at the beginning it seems impossible to get into but as you spend more time with it it grows on you until you love it

Except that the Souls games are at least good looking and this album is unappealing on every level.
