Why do Americans not like this album?

Especially as Americans seem to love all the other big name Manchester bands like The Smiths, Joy Division and Oasis.

Why did burgers sleep on this masterpiece?

i'm american and I like this album

We heard the people ripping off their music way before hearing their music

At one point, during the initial rise of the Stone Roses, Brown famously said, “America doesn’t deserve us yet.” Initially, the band stipulated that they would tour the States -– only if they played Shea Stadium first. “Their manager said they wouldn’t come to America until they could sell out Shea Stadium – they wanted to be like the Beatles,” Spence says.

The band themselves hated the USA and didn't want the record promoted there and refused to tour there. The said "America doesn't deserve us" or something.

I love them but they only had one big album and didn't really put the effort to make their name last.

>didn't really put the effort to make their name last

Their two "comeback" songs were pretty bland. Certainly didn't have the replay value of pretty much all the songs on the debut. They were supposed to release a third album too but fucked off with their paychecks.

watta buncha asshats

But I do like that album, it's one of my all time favorites

The Roses’ unsurpassable arrogance allegedly once led to them turning down a support slot with Pixies and even a lucrative guest spot with New Order in the States. A PR spokesman said: “The Stone Roses have never supported anyone in their life and see no reason why they should now.”

I lyk dem .__.

>w-we don't even want to tour the USA, h-honest

Classic mancs

>turning down a support slot with Pixies

Holy shit, fucking idiots. That would have been the best gig of all time.

Happy Mondays, on the other hand, did actually support the Pixies in the US. There's a video of Billy Corgan talking to Tony Wilson about how he saw one of the gigs in Chicago, and when the Mondays first came on they were getting booed because the crowd thought they were so bad, but as the set went on they completely won them over.
