Do people in Latin America listen to anything besides reggaeton and "Latin trap"?
Do people in Latin America listen to anything besides reggaeton and "Latin trap"?
metal for the dudes
post punk for the ladies
I know metal has a big following in Latin America, but I looked on the spotify top 50 for Colombia, and pretty much all 50 songs are reggaeton
I fucking hate how dominant reggaeton is these days, some of it is good but some of it is just low IQ Brayan music
I live in Mexico and there was a festival here two nights ago with Aphex Twin, khruangbin, Jon Hopkins, Denzel Curry, Rosalia, Massive Attack and pretty much all the young people in my neighborhood went. People here have great taste
south americans love morissey for some reason
Mexico seems to be have better taste than say, Colombia.
But low IQ reggaeton and narcocorridos are very popular in Mexico
A lot of Latinas in the US have shitty taste in music, listening to nothing but top 40 rap and whatever Brayan music is hot in Latin America. But there are also a lot of Latinas with good taste in music.
Many bands from Latin America are influeced by The Smiths and New Wave in general
while I appreciate that they like The Smiths instead of just Brayan shit, why the Smiths of all bands? I could never get into them, Morrisey has a good voice but the lyrics and cadence to their songs are so shitty.
The Cure on the other hand, are awesome
more popular in Miami than Mexico my guy
Isn't Mexico's top 40 largely filled with reggaeton too?
lol, I watch chaturbate a lot and the Colombian/Venezuelan rooms feature nothing but shitty reggaeton 90% of the time. The dudes are also obvious Brayans a good chunk of the time, with those shitty ghetto haircuts.
Goddamn those girls have nice feet, though. Literally perfect
I hear the cure are popular there too
callate alienado autista ctm "brayan music"?? en qué mierda estás?
I don't really pay attention to the charts but at the very least, the cool people here, do not like reggaeton. What plays at the clubs and bars is usually techno and new wave inspired. Even the younger cab drivers play like New Order and Depeche Mode
t. Brayan
Why is reggaeton considered "urban music" if it's peak popularity is in rural areas? Cities are where you'll find more people into non-reggaeton genres, like rock.
it's "urban" because it's the music of the street - there's also rapping which is why they started calling it Urbano
It's also the music of people in the country that live in tin roof shacks.
idk about that... they mostly listen to traditional folk music, they can't relate to any of the shit in reggaeton
The real reason is because in the US, "urban" is used as a codeword for black, so black music (hip hop, r&b, dancehall) is called "urban music" regardless of where it actually comes from.
And reggaeton artists basically just copy the aforementioned genres, so it's "urban music" too.
Reggaeton is mostly about sex and romance, how can they not relate? Poor Latin American people sure love to fuck
can confirm, am latino
I'm talking about the poorest of the poor, the people who live in the "tin roof shacks" that he's talking about. they don't listen to reggaeton
Yes they do. Why wouldn't they? Do you really think Brayan and Yasuri in rural Colombia aren't listening to reggaeton?
people from the most rural shitty parts of any south america dont even own a radio and listen to folk music made from a hand made guitar made from a milk crate dont listen to anyone in this thread
I live in Mexico, and in this moment i'm listening to The Claypool Lennon Delirium.
this is an exaggeration but honestly yes
even poor people have radios and internet access.
I think the reason youtube video views from reggaeton artists are so high is because poor kids consume their music that way, too poor to afford streaming and definitely too poor to afford album purchases
bruh where do you even live? i don't know the reference to Brayan and Yasuri but I was just in rural Colombia and they were not listening to Reggaeton, they were listening to salsa. Educate yourself
is it a good album?
What about people in the 18-35 range?
I don't know what every demo listens to in every latin country, I just know what I've experienced for myself.
latin americans love DSBM
Yes, a little bit pretentious, but really good. Music is not dead!
depressive suicidal black metal?
maybe .003%
good taste desu
Do people in the USA listen to anything but dadrock and memerap?
great question user
people dont pay for music in latin america
Colombia and PR are like the capitals of Reggaeton
Brazil has sertanejo (akin to country) and it's cancerous version "sertanejo universitario" (university country), which metastasized from dudes singing about rural life to college-age dudes singing about drinking and cucking and being a cuck.
We also have our own version of funk, which manages to be IMO the worst version of it. It seriously makes trap and raggaeton musicians seem talented.
Metal does have a wide following in incels.
yes they do
they either torrent, get it from the friend who torrented it, or leave it on youtube connected to a bluetooth speaker.
barely
spotify has a free option
true, but it's popular in every single Spanish speaking country
it's also popular in america dude - p4k is sucking every reggaeton artist's dick, they gave best track that awful j balvin and rosalia song
Yes.

bait
It depends. People in Colombia's central rural areas (mestizos, and especially, disgusting paisas) tend to listen to Musica popular (not pop, but a mix of folk saloon music, and mexican mariachi and narcocorridos: youtube.com
Pacific rural areas (mostly blacks) tend to be more oriented into african, folk and salsa: youtube.com
While rural areas in the northern are dominated by vallenatos and cumbias: im too lazy to find, listen to Shakira.
ofc this country is a fucking sancocho and you can still see people listening whatever everywhere.
in that case, yeah. but they listen to other music also
>ofc this country is a fucking sancocho and you can still see people listening whatever everywhere.
you must be colombian lmao
>"bait"
not all of us can grow up in fancy pants areas like Durango. pinche city boy
jaja
Me and my friends (basically anyone who dosent act like a loser/nigger, which is pretty rare in Brazil) like metal, specially sabaton.
>calling it Brazil instead of Brasil
I'm suspicious
arepa-chan died
