Can we talk about punk rock? Nobody ever wants to talk about punk rock...
Can we talk about punk rock? Nobody ever wants to talk about punk rock
what do you want to say about it?
it sucks
I dunno, what albums do you like? Do you prefer contemporary or classic?
this is why the punk rock threads die. the OPs want other people to pull all the weight.
WRONG
Punk rock stripped down too much of music and numbed it down to its bare bones. Post-punk is better in any way you can think of.
Discussing music on the internet is not very punk rock.
american hardcore punk > british post-punk > american punk rock > british hardcore punk > american post-punk >>>>>>>> british punk rock
i bet op irons his fucking underwear

bad brains best hardcore punk band of all time
t. has heard like 2 hardcore punk bands
sounds hot
Siberian punk >>>>>>> all that you mentioned
kek, this
their self titled is probably the best hardcore album without the reggae tracks but theyre not the best hardcore band
Minor Threat will always be the pinnacle of hardcore: incredibly fast, guitar sounds like a chainsaw, Ian has the energy of a lunatic and their lyrics are poignant and thoughtful. They were straight to the point, which is what hardcore should be. Bands like Husker Du and Bad Brains are great, but they explored other genres and styles whereas MT was just punk af, especially since they called it quits after a brief and excellent output, and went on to help invent emo and post-hardcore

Pic related was my first experience of punk rock and is still to this day IMO the most solid and iconic album in the Genre.
Can anyone recommend me some instrumental punk? I like pic related
SST put out an instrumental compilation called No Age. Black Flag and Lee Renaldo both have tracks on it. Overall it's too jazzy for my liking but it's worth checking out.
10/10
You might like Saccharine Trust and Joe Baiza's other projects like Universal Congress Of... Also look into Greg Ginn's mid 80s band Gone
This was pretty gud
I've heard Gone/Saccharine Trust but not Joe Biazas other projects or No Age. Thanks
October Faction was the other band, it was a sort of SST supergroup featuring Ginn and Baiza. Also I haven't listened to the Ex but apparently they developed into a free jazz / avant garde punk type thing over the years
I've heard October Faction, it didn't stick with me. Might listen to it again. The Gone albums really did though. I'll check out the Ex too

Green Day, Three Days Grace, Blink 182, The Offspring, truly great examples of punk rock.
They turn to shit because /pol/ leaks into them.
This one's been doing ok so far
because its a rock based genre and because of that it is a dead genre for boomers and millennials. its ogre
I don't think you can play rock at a party now and not be considered cringe. Anyone think differently?
Give this a listen if you haven't freindos

Punk is sõýbõis muzak
this is probably very likely. unless you live in some small flyover area with hillbilly (townies) you arent going to hear people playing rock music at parties too often.
seething grey-haired aging 26 year old.
Name a better one
>this is probably very likely. unless you live in some small flyover area with hillbilly (townies) you arent going to hear people playing rock music at parties too often.
Why would you? Modern rock aka sadboi indie soicore isn't what you put on at a party.
So Gene Simmons was right?
>not putting on upbeat edm tunes.
Sadly, yes.
Not every genre is made for putting at parties. Everything has its purpose.
Punk died because there was no way of competing with steve albini and his big dick.
Talk to me about these bands or other modern hardcore

I always shill this album in punk threads, modern classic
Used to listen to a lot of classics. Went to shows a lot. I am just bored as shit of regular punk/hardcore. Sure in a live setting there's nothing more aggressive, visceral to jam to. But I would rather go to the gym for this instead of listening to dull as shit music where every band does the same mean sounding chugg chugg chugg crap.
Modern hardcore is the definition of beating a dead horse
Rock music was taken to such an extreme in the 80s that it really seems to be nothing left for it. Nobody is ever going to get more out of the electric guitar/standard rock band setup than Sonic Youth did 30 years ago
nice bait faggot lmao
The Misfits are Great!
Nothing past 1983 though
Dag Nasty - "Can I Say" did this a million times better
