Fantano doesn't review nu jazz, ambient, or even post punk revival. He used to be way more interesting and versatile. Lately I've found myself annoyed with him. I think he just wants those sweet clicks. Literally no grown man would agree that Ariana or Billie are good.

I think fantano has admitted that he recognizes devin is prolific and has range, but he just doesn't like him

I think he might dig Empath because he always says he wants to hear more creativity in prog metal, and that album has alot of creativity and exploration

But he's a music reviewer. I guess he has to pick and choose due to the massive amount of releases each year.

Fantano doesn't review good stuff. He's never reviewed a single classical album, any decent metal, or any decent popular music album of worth.

The closest thing to prog metal he's reviewed in the past two years or so is Horrendous' Idol, and that album is closer to tech death than pure prog metal.
