wtf op...the slowcore essential charts have been in the archives for years.

sometimes, you know, the threads are also good for just general discussion of the stuff -- and to find something that's not on the essentials charts -- which are always somehow somewhat spotty anyways

here's an interesting one:

the rest of the record is off the wall madness (the second song i heard described as "as if written in a blender") -- more slint-ish, but very good, if you like heavier shit mixed in with your slow stuff

also codeine, bedhead, duster, though i guess these are all pretty obvious ones

oh, also, nobody ever talks about this fsr but the 'songs for a dead pilot' ep is really amazing. whoever engineered it really nailed the recording on this one

Karate - Unsolved
Codeine - Fridgid Starsh
Codeine - The White Birch
40 Watt Sun - Wider Than the Sky
Pallow - Blueprints for an Empty Vessel
Hood - The Cycle of Days and Seasons
Peter Silberman - Impermanence
Toby Driver - Madonnawhore

Kid Dakota's So Pretty is pretty good I feel like people don't talk about it that much

also an obvious one but really love Glaxie 500, especially On Fire

Listened to it for the first time today it was great

its shit

bumping good thread

Thanks for this!!

yeah man, there was a period i was obsessed with it.

if you're more interested in that 90s louisville/slint sound/scene, you should check out this movie called half-cocked by suki hawley. i think there's a (not so great, but iirc watchable) torrent on tpb. it's a cult movie. the members of rodan are in it, playing people that don't know how to play music. also ian svenonius does a hilarious "cooler-than-thou insufferable pretentious older brother DIY scene kid"

plus great soundtrack, music from unwound, polvo, rodan...

check it out!
