Why did indie music die...

Why did indie music die? It seems like after Animal Collective released MPP the entire indie music landscape collectively lost any and all creativity. Of course there were still good indie albums that came out after MPP but it was definitely the exception rather than the standard.

Because everyone is busy browsing Yea Forums instead of making music.

MPP was the swan song (album) of indie music and there will never be an album of that caliber again. Just move on to hip hop like everyone else, boomer

because nothing is indie on the internet. there's a community for literally anything now.

It used to mean anything not on one of the major record labels, which would be like 99.9999% of the internet.

what was commonly referred to as "indie" music in the 2000's was baroque/chamber pop and folk. that style died out, same thing that happens to every scene of music
