Bassists that piss me off

People who play basses
>with plectrum
>highest strings
>fucking distortion or overdrive
>the treble pot past half-way and further up

Just get a guitar, for fuck sake.

retard

And explain why?

okay, i will:
you're a fag

you can play bass with
plectrum
but best with fingers
but bass is essential to a band
Queen or Rush or Sabbath or Jaco
alot of guys
Paul Chambers on Kind of Blue
old cats
people don`t remember

what a homo you are.
you know jamerson played with his tone knob all the way up?

Every Metal Cunt worships Lemmy as a good Bassist.
>Ugly old Rickenbacker 'bass'
>has to use faggy Overdrive to make himself heard
>RANGADANGDANGDANGADANGARANGARANGADANDADANGDANG...

Grand Funk Railroad
that bass there
really good well processed fine tuned
same with Live at Leeds
that recording was good with the engineering

they like him because they like his tone and the lines he played. just because you don't doesn't mean liking him is invalid.

"Oooh, let's listen to every filthy swipe with your fingers, because I dare not touch 'muh tone knob'

post albums that prove bass is useless

Attached: Inquisition.jpg (350x350, 50K)

Larry Graham is the one who jams with Sly Stone
that was some real shit back then
that shit was funky
first slap bass first drum machine
Sly Stone was a genius

so you're just a shit player with no technique blaming his inability to properly mute on the tone knob.

bassed boomer

His tone sounds, kek sorry, sounded like the low strings of a fucking guitar player. Why didn't he just use a guitar and had someone else who could do the job of a lower-register player?

if you've ever mixed you know most of the time bass is low mids and therefore tone is crucial. you're just another opinionated shit on the internet who doesn't have a clue.

>Just get a guitar, for fuck sake.
Why, I'm still doing bass player shit

Marvin Gaye with the Funk Brothers
John Mcvie from Fleetwood Mac that guy jams
Ray on the organ in the Doors jams
Billy Cox with Hendrix that jams
Roger waters jams on the bass

I make a lot of punk music and I agree with you except the distortion and overdrive comment you idiot.

Clangety-clong-slap-slap, u mad bro?

He did what was necessary for the band's sound. I like Motorhead, and if he had a clean tone and played single note lines the sound wouldn't be as massive and it wouldn't match the aggressive nature. The bass can be played any way you want, and if lots of people like it you must be doing something right.

I wanna love you but 'Punk'?
Insert Edgelord joke here.

OP, it drives me NUTS when bassists don't add heavy reverb and delay to their bass.

Mingus played the bass
Noel Redding with the Experience
Jack Bruce with Cream
Barry Oakley with the Allman Brothers

>he's a bass player that will never be in a studio
fuck off, kid.
you don't even understand how important bass is.

Still not doing the role of 'bass' tho.

Phil Lesh in the Grateful Dead
with Jerry that was good jams
Twiggy
that guy Joerdie White is a good bassist
Korn has a good bassist and Primus and Flea
and Three Days with Eric Avery

who decides what that role is?

>playing bass without a ring modulator
don't tell me you faggots actually do this?

Attached: gonk.jpg (3000x3000, 2.74M)

The bass guitar is dead.
VSTs have rendered it obsolete.

Novoselic
and all those punk bands with their bass lines
Steve Harris from Iron Maiden is another one
and Bootsy Collins
Paul McCartney
Cliff Burton
whoever Zappa got to play bass
they have too many

Grill my bass playing Yea Forums distortion and higher registers still are very tonally different than guitar. I use them a lot and I like it.

soundcloud.com/sneakyscamlikely/2069-a-wet-sock-odyssey

no
you just need parametric eq
and an ear
and fingers
and the Gods
it is how much time you put into that space

>muh vst's

have sex

What are your thoughts on Chris Squire?

Wake ya mam up for me then please, she passed out when I farted that line of ket up her nozzles when she was rimming me.

Bassists are either the worst or most talented member in the band.

OH FUKKEN GOD NO!!! I'M SURE THAT PRICK CUT OFF THE E, A AND D STRINGS. STUPID MONG FACED OVERRATED PRICK.

>bass players don't get pus-

my mom is dead apologize right now you big dummy

OP here again.
Ok, a good example of a Bass Player.
Bernard Edwards.

youtube.com/watch?v=-7VnkxYbcb0

Nice Dubs, sorry about your mom, sincerely.

Attached: 9bf.jpg (680x449, 21K)

Bernard is good, but his tone knob is way up, and he played in the high register often.

Hmmm?
Yet it doesn't have the 'clanky' sound.
I personally like the 'farty' high mid tone.

>Yet it doesn't have the 'clanky' sound.
what?

You know, the top end fret buzz and the overbearing 'clunky' sound that many bassists use to stand out from the mix.

CLANKY CLANKY BOING BOING, SLASLAPSLAP. "Look mum, I'm making a melody, even tho you didn't buy me an electric guitar'.
Utilise your dedicated portion of the spectrum, instead of trying to emulate guitarfags.

>You know, the top end fret buzz and the overbearing 'clunky' sound that many bassists use to stand out from the mix.
What does that have to do with the tone knob?

any point on the fretboard is an acceptable portion of the spectrum you fag

>fucking distortion or overdrive
There is literally nothing wrong. It can be good for doom metal.

>What does that have to do with the tone knob?

I've noticed, if you lay off of the treble tone knob, you get less of the 'tuned down six/seven/eight string guitar sound' and more of an 'actual' bass sound, you know, you play bass, so sound like bass.

cliff burton?

Still not bass tho
>Doom Metal
Teenage phases are really tough, you'll get through it user, believe in yourself!

you're such a fucking moron.
>I've noticed, if you lay off of the treble tone knob, you get less of the 'tuned down six/seven/eight string guitar sound'
no you don't. that sound is a combo of eq, guitar, and playing technique.
>an 'actual' bass sound,
you mean the sound you arbitrarily chose as a real bass sound? despite the fact that bernard edwards and james jamerson both played with the tone knob cranked?
>you play bass, so sound like bass.
any sound you get from a bass without effects pedals will sound like a bass. it's a different tone, but it still sounds like a bass.

>Cliff Burton
Nice meme kid

Attached: 1552253856463.jpg (280x400, 56K)

>Still not bass tho
yeah it fucking is. if you play it on a bass guitar, it's a bass guitar part.

jesse from death from above is god though

>yeah it fucking is. if you play it on a bass guitar, it's a bass guitar part.

To whos standards?

>To whos standards?
it's a fact. if something is played on a bass, it is by definition a bass part.

How to get the Entwistle live at Leeds tone?

sod off laddie
youtube.com/watch?v=usE5_Wii6x0

lower your action.
smack the string, don't pluck it. don't slap either, it's kind of hard to describe.
play over the fretboard.
play really lightly and crank your amp.

Ok then, So I get a synthesizer/keyboard and play a 256 Hz note and then I play a 2048–16384 Hz, is that, by definition of a Bass part, or a Treble part?

that's a keyboard part.
if you play something on a bass guitar, it is a bass guitar part.

>People who play basses
>>with plectrum

what's the problem lol, there's bits of metal suspended on a hunk of wood that vibrate, so I made it vibrate with a pick instead of my fingers, so fucking what?

Thanks man. Entwistle kicks so much ass on that record

Right, ok, but does video sound particularly acceptable bassline to you?

yeah.
i don't particularly like it, but it's an acceptable bass part.

Ok, I'm feeling reasonable, can you give me an example of 'your personal' favourite bass player/style?

Flea

no.
my favorite is probably jamerson or bootsy.

What a horrible bait, holy fuck

>uses his ring finger

Attached: 1499474921144.gif (1080x1080, 505K)

Just stick to doubling the rhythm guitar part and you'll make it through that gig at the high school talent show champ

youtube.com/watch?v=KKBmkxFm7-U

Jamerson was a genius. This illustrates why.

>vulfpeck
i'd rather just listen to the original song, thanks.

you suck butt loser. Lemmy is so much better at that ONE thing than you could ever hope to be at anything in your miserable little life. Ita pretty pathetic that youre so bad at bass you have to come online and make fun of dead people. Nobody is going to remember you when youre dead, and Lemmy is eternal.

??? PC didn't play bass guitar or use a plextrum..bitch are u retarded?

Look at this fucking faggot who plays by arbitary rules

6 strings

I honestly like melodic parts done on the bass.
Like at the end of the day what's the difference between a guitar with an octave pedal and a bass?

Bass has more sustain cause theyre bigger

...

Is this post-modernism?

Attached: crossthread.jpg (684x942, 81K)

Cool bait thread! I'll bet your tone sucks ass, and you'd probably get lost in a full band mix. Here is some sweet tone to inspire your dull ear:
