the way to do it is get a willing backing band to actually play the instrumentals while Chris sings the words, an actual complete re-recording packaged with a replica CD with the original tracks.

The master was probably lost in the fire. But to be honest, I don't think there would've been much of a difference in quality, if they just went with the original tape.

I'm sure he has enough musically competent fans who'd be down to do it. The songs aren't particularly hard, either, so they could probably bang it out in a day.
