nah thats cool m8 i just thought it was a fun wordplay. so how do you build these? are they like kits you can order?

Those EuroSerge modules are Random*Source boards/panels. For cases I just get rails/brackets to fit whatever I wanna use as the case, then sort out what kinda power I need and build/mount that. I like to use these pelican knockoff cases cause they are rugged/safe for travel and I only pay like $20 for them. they fit 84hp which is standard rail length...except for my serge case which is 105hp.
fuck those cases look sweet. how do you buy them, like commercial name/brand. i have one but its from some surveilance combo with marantz recorder

>pelican knockoff cases cause they are rugged/safe for travel and I only pay like $20 for them alright, im getting you get these from a private and not retail right?
Levi Walker
who /meme/ here?
right now calibrating one, the revolving tape is trippy as fuck.
Places like harbor freight sell knock offs pretty cheap, plus with their different discounts even cheaper if you pay attention. secondhand pelican or Halliburton cases are pretty easy to find too, those Halliburton cases are nice
Super fucking fun and unique A lot of people say it's limited and really only good for wubs but it can make a large variety of sounds and I think it's definitely worth the price I've had some problems with midi on it though

>setting your synth down in the dirt and leaves

I've got a re-501. I bought when I was a teenager for very little money, but it's a little broken I believe. It sounds amazing when not broken.
goddamn baby is that the v2? that reverb is still on my wishlist but i went for the zoia for now

Got VacuumPro and Hybrid 3 by AIR for little money - I needed some synths and those were almost free so there we go. I am impressed with what I can do with those I might collect rest of AIR's stuff when they go down in price.
Depends on the price. You can get a deepmind for under 500 dollars. Unless you get the microkorg for 200 or less I'd say no. Having mostly all functions available on the front is much better.
if you just want to add some synth sounds to your music then sure, but not if you want to learn synthesis. I might just be lazy, but it was my first synth and I never bothered going past the presets in the 6 years I owned it. Then the keys broke and I replaced it with an MS-20 mini and became addicted to shaping my own sounds. The microkorg is a very capable little synth, and it's nice having the vocoder, but like said, the deepmind isn't all that much more expensive, is 100 times the synth, and is an absolute joy to play
It became very obvious after releasing music professionally that synths are an outdated sound design tool (at least as your main skillset).
The knowledge involved is useful, but sample-based sound design & synthesis will always be more versatile, detailed, and complex-sounding than anything a synthesizer can make.
And all you need is the computer you're already viewing this thread on.
But with that being said, synths are still very fun, just putting all that out there.

I was about to clown on you until I noticed "sample based". 100% correct desu samples > synths
Juan Davis
not true. there is a severe lack of creativity flowing when staring into a computer screen rather than playing with knobs and sliders physically. It's much more of an emotional process that way, which is what music should be. I think anyone that has been on both sides can relate.
