>Ariana Grande releases thank u next, a trash flaming horeshit of a song describing how much of a raging slut she is and how every teen whore should bang cocks till their cunts turn into gaping STD infested tunnels >gets 50 mil views in under a week, critically acclaimed and praised to high heavens by all those who listened to it >The National releases Graceless, a beautiful sad song with dark undertones, meaningful lyrics and a great beat >under 2 million views in all these years, barely anybody even knows who they are
Yeah I know everybody has different tastes and all, but how long before even the good ones decide to release another run of the mill love song with trash shallow junk lyrics and a catchy beat to hop on the deranged braindead teen demographic? Theres still good songs out there, sure, but they are much harder to find than before. Going at this rate will we even have any decent music to listen to in the future? Why do all these songs with the same cringey lyrics about the mating rituals of sluts and soibois and a halfway decent beat get billions of views? Is this a reflection of society and how its becoming increasingly shallow and superficial?
thank u next is unironically a better song than anything the national has ever put out. have sex please
Samuel Gomez
This better be bait cause if not then you deserve castration you cum gurgling prick
Logan Cox
Newsflash, popular music has always been bad you zoomer. Look at the billboard top 100 charts and you’ll see what I mean.
Jason Wilson
My point is that good music today is harder to find than it was a decade ago, and seeing how easy it is to please the population today, producers may just decide to switch over to mass producing junk instead of actually putting in effort to make a decent song
Luke Brown
The national have been around for two decades and have only gotten more popular. Not sure why they’d be a good comparison for a mainstream pop star
Charles Gomez
if exercise in indie mediocrity: the band is really who you want to use for your argument against pop music maybe you should stop sucking alt music critic publications dicks like it's still 2009. The national sucks ass and is no better than any radio pop act today and you aren't better than people who like pop music. Go post on a MGTOW forum or something
Jace Perry
The point is that these mainstream popstars are putting up a bad example, by putting out low effort garbage and raking in millions they are effectively advertising how low effort fan service is extremely rewarding, which could discourage anybody from putting in actual effort and turning over to prooducing trash thereby reducing the already low selction of good music we have.
Landon Martinez
>shilling this hard for shitty pop trash You have to be 18 to post here faggot
Grayson Gonzalez
>My point is that good music today is harder to find than it was a decade ago
if you're interested there's probably way more choice and way more avenues to listen to it than there has ever been before

>I got nothin so it’s ad hominem time again
Justin Rivera
I don't even like ariana grande it's just hilarious that sheltered indie circlejerkers still exist in 2019. indie rock is literally pop music. thank u next bangs though
Robert Morgan
popular music/culture has devolved
Jack Diaz
>music harder to find than a decade ago It’s literally the easiest time in history to find music you like. Would you have the same taste you have if not for the internet? >mass producing junk Guess what, producers have always appealed to the general public this isn’t a new thing that has just happened.
Benjamin Ramirez
upvoted good sir :^)
Hudson Jenkins
Those people don't care about music on on a similar level as you. It's the same reason why everyone calls Bohemian Rhapsody the peak of all music, because many of them haven't heard much beyond 3 minute pop jangles so something like that blows their fucking mind. It's that many people who care for Ariana either do because they like her as a person or they don't feel any effort to find music and only want to hear it for background music at parties. Pop music has always sucked.
Its not about finding good music, its about producing it. Why would any band put in actual effort to churn out lyrics with layers when all you have to do is sing about how much you miss your ex's pussy? I am sure we've already been robbed of decent songs cause the musicians decided to take the easy route seeing how all the higher ups are doing the same instead of spend nights infusing their songs with a souls and getting peanuts for all their troubles.
Anthony Thomas
I feel like artists trying to appeal to the general public, can’t make insightful music regardless. But I do agree that it’s easier for artists to take the easy route. Still, not all of them do, there’s lots of artists that don’t care about the money.
If you looked at the billboard top 100 charts you would see it is filled with forgotten hacks and has beens. Those artists cared about money while good music will always be remembered regardless
Adam Howard
I saw The National in an arena last year and it was packed so
Joseph Wood
we live in a society
David Green
The internet is the greatest thing to happen to indie music, fuckhead.
Nathan Taylor
>will we even have any decent music to listen to in the future My friend the only way to win this battle is to bump the good shit in your car with windows down. Literally anything besides pop or trap will get frowned upon these days so fuck them and just listen to what you like.
Adrian Hernandez
>liking the national
Luke Perez
The national are great though
Lincoln Cruz
>slut pop Music has been weaponized to push culture in one way or another since at least the 40s. Why are they social engineering everyone into retarded ape people who can't think about anything except fucking? Hard to know exactly, but that's what's happening. >the national Utterly boring generic crap. Branch out user.
Joshua Bell
because lessers (aka - normies) think music is supposed to be only about sex and black struggle. proves my point.
Hunter Lopez
Holy fucking shit user. It's by far the easiest time to find good music in history. And there are more bands and artists making good music than at any point in history because recording and music gear has gotten so much cheaper. How are you going about searching for new music? You must be doing it wrong
Christian Collins
>ping STD infe I'm off to the clinic. Thanks.
Xavier Bell
go write some music then, faggot. you can produce all your own shit at home and there is a whole established scene for you already. you can even publish it yourself immediately and effortlessly. it has NEVER been easier to express yourself as a musician. Nobody else owes you anything and the industry itself has always been trash.
