How to make a brutally melodramatic tune melodramatically orchestrated sound intelligent? How to make a pathetic concept work? Repeat that tune for 25 minutes. It is probably packed with unbearable amount of pretentiousness and self-indulgence. Bryars takes no victims. And he wins: he makes hundreds of atonal lovers rave about 50 minutes of total cheesiness. WTF?! Is this one of the dead-ends of minimalism? Is this some kind of avant-garde ouroboros? One thing has to be clear: we may enjoy it, alright, but it is the kitchiest thing ever released, yes? EVER! Basically, I should find out what I expect from music, finally. Once, when I will listen to every music in the world, I will come back and write a review for this one. It will receive 0,5 or 5* - exclusive disjunction - no other options would be available.

No but I do think it unfolds more on repeated listens. Lots of layers to it. I'd recommend giving it a few more tries.

ok i just listened to the first few songs and love it. more music like this? specifically, the way the chords sound like they are going to go in a standard pop way but are subverted into some jazzy/classical chords that work so well, and the dreamy texture on top of that.

HYimW of Julia Holtier do something similar but in a more positive and optimistic way, while here it just a bliss of emotion. I love both albums.
