Unpopular Opinions Thread

If Ian Curtis had lived on he would have aged into an insufferable prick like Morrissey if his widow's memoir is anything to go by. Nobody who's already that meme-racist by 20 is going to get less edgy with age even if he still made excellent music.

The worst Pink Floyd album is A Momentary Lapse Of Reason.

>Ian Curtis
>Excellent music

FKA twigs is the only good R&B artist except maybe Clarence Clarity.
Maybe.

Sampling isn’t stealing.

>meme-racist
what?

Neutral Milk Hotel is absolutely massively overrated
Any genre of popular music is repetitive/extremely derivative/stealing and there's nothing wrong with that
People woh are heavily into music but aren't professional musicians are 90% usually obnoxious cunts who have their music taste as a personality accesory and choose which artists they like and which songs from an artist they like according to an idea of what they should like and how they should present themselves eg. deliberately not mention or 'like' the most popular songs from an artist, actively change opinion based on the popularity of the artist
Hip hop music is very alive and well, only people that are extremely disconnected from hip hop music claim it has gone to shit or that everything is le stupid mumble rap now
Rock music has seen it's most bland and uninteresting period the last 15 years or so and might just be really gone for good except for reviving old nostalgic genres in the 20s
If metal is the majority of music you listen to you should fucking kill yourself

rock music is so fucking gay
literally homosexual i mean
gayest music genre
even gayer than trance

The Darkness are still one of the most talented bands in the UK in terms of musicianship, but most of their best tracks since they reformed are bonus tracks so most people don't realise it.

lol okay fantano

name a good r&b artist.

Ian was a lot more self-contained than Morrissey though.

Ummagumma, actually.

I'm wondering the same thing

I remember in his biography there was a bit where his wife talks about how me mocked his Indian neighbours for not pooing in the loo. Maybe that's what op was referring to.

t. some brown skin goblin who thinks racism isnt natural

Makes some sense

Most talented Midori member was Hajime. His keyboard playing and scream vocals are amazing.

Attached: Midori.jpg (450x300, 86K)

Did he make anything after Midori broke up? I know Goto did, but did he?

he said worst not best

Based and redpilled

From an interview with Peter Hook
>He was very right wing, once he got going. I remember going to an Indian restaurant with him, and him kicking off in this restaurant… maybe you shouldn’t print it. He and Debby had a house in Oldham, and he worked his balls off to get this house, then found in reduced in value because of the district, and that really pissed him off. He felt these guys were taking the piss. The big thing was, when they moved in, they took the toilets out of the houses and used it as another bedroom. The guy used to shit in newspaper and throw it over his back yard. It used to drive him potty.

>using the bedroom as another bathroom
what the everliving fuck

in what world is this unpopular

P O O IN THE LOO
O
O

Rap music is modern glam rock.

i hope joy division and other early post/punk acts get cancelled so its cool to listen to them again

I disagree. There are plenty of great R&B artists. Lauryn Hill, Sampha, Maxwell, Aaliyah, Me'Shell Ndegéocello, Terence Trent, are some that come to mind. With more modern ones Janelle Monae and The Weekend are good, especially Janelle. I agree that there are a lot of shit (especially now with all the alt R&B trash) but still, plenty of good stuff.

be honest aaliyah is only there because she died.
Otherwise she was a pretty by the numbers popstar.

Ian Curtis' suicide was inevitable. He feared touring across North America and struggled with on-stage performances as his epilepsy worsened. He would've committed suicide during/after the North American tour or died in the midst of an epileptic seizure. His depression worsened by the day, feelings of guilt for cheating began to consume him, and he truly came to despise the state of things. New Order was going to form no matter what.

Ian Curtis was meant to die and he was going to die, whether by his hand or not.

Attached: iancurtis.jpg (800x1203, 186K)

a shame too, new order sucks

All major tech companies made their billions straight up stealing music. And now they are going to use this power to steal everything else that you like, including the most intimate details of your life.

Sampling isn't stealing. If you create another experience with the sample, that isn't thievery.

The Idiot - Iggy Pop
is better than anything New Order/Joy Division ever put out

no you

lo-fi hip-hop isn't bad

but if you make a rock song it means you stole it from black people

Tame Impala is overrated and not actually original. He's also constantly offbeat in a bad way

>Neutral Milk Hotel is absolutely massively overrated
oh wow, such an unpopular opinion

I love Kraftwerk but they get way too much credit for the boom of electronic music.

>insufferable prick like Morrissey
Moz was always that way

Marr said he used to be a normal guy and became a retarded asshole as he aged

UmmaGumma is their best

>drive him potty
what an utter bastard

There are too many good classic RnB artists to even count, but as far as modern RnB, Janelle Monae is just one of the best artists this decade period.
I don’t know if she’s going to continue being good though, since Dirty computer was kinda lackluster

You’re going to have to be more specific for people to understand and see where your coming from.
Hip hop is a broad genre, with a decent amount of distinct sounding subgenres

ebic post

geet

music has the right to children is the most overrated IDM album
or maybe the first SAW

Ian Curtis is literally based.

>The worst Pink Floyd album is A Momentary Lapse Of Reason.

Obviously, you're joking. Going for the eye roll. While MLOR isn't their best, I'd listen to it any day over almost every album of theirs between Piper and Dark Side (not inclusive of those titles). From Dark Side through Division Bell (inclusive), all their albums are at worst, listenable.

there's much better music in Korea than that shit known as Kpop

>implying all of these songs sound the same
Even if you don’t think hip hop is that broad of a genre, you’re comparing an umbrella genre, to a subgenre of a larger genre, so you look like a retard whatever way you slice it.

A good reminder of why I usually do not take the musical opinions of people who listen to hip-hop seriously

Hip hop is barely music.

This. The bias was pretty obvious.

Thread's called unpopular opinions, y'know, for unpopular opinions such as this one. So I don't think he/she/it is joking.

*Gorillaz last albums were trash apart from that one 5/10 song called Tranz*

Attached: Nathan002.jpg (1153x649, 70K)

Italo-disco is the greatest music genre of all time

kurt cobain was a hack and nirvana was shit
also the Beatles suck dick

Some of its alright when they use classic rock songs for their hooks

the most based post on Yea Forums

To be fair, The Idiot is better than anything most bands ever put out.
