What did you guys think of "Old Town Road"?

What did you guys think of "Old Town Road"?

My favorite country crossover song.

Honestly the best novelty/joke song to come out in years.

Tracy and Uzi did it better on “like a farmer”

It's funny for pretty much the exact reason that it doesn't go totally off the rails with its jokes or try too hard, it's conceptually ridiculous and has funny lines but it doesn't go full-on into "comedy music" territory.
Plus it works as something to be enjoyed semi-ironically by memelords, as a dumb trap banger, and as an anthem for rednecks, so it has pretty wide appeal. And it's catchy as all fuck
Definitely think the remix will go to #1, don't know if Lil Nas X will have staying power as a regular trap artist (and if he doesn't, if he'll do the generally fatal mistake of following a fluke hit with a carbon copy) but this song is going to get played to death at sports events n such

Pretty standard as far as today's horseshit rap goes. Dont understand they fuss of it not being allowed on the country charts. It's not a country song at all. That's like saying ghetto cowboy was a country song. It's fucking retarded and arguing otherwise is just annoying.

really good
but also this

t. racist

I honestly like it unironically. Maybe just because I dont listen to most trap, but I think his deep drawling singing sounds really cool with the beat.

It kind of makes me want to hear someone who sounds like peter steele or andrew eldritch do a trap song

>you won't let me have my way all the time?
>you must be racist

I want him to make an entire album of similar songs and call it Trail Mix.

It really is the secret sauce, the timbre of the vox and the instrumental complement each other in a quite fascinating way, doubt the dude himself even guessed it would sound so good when he decided to record it

Dude, have you heard the recent popular country songs. If those are country, Old Town Road can be, plus Old Town Road is actually pretty good

I’m so tired of memes pushing non-songs into the mainstream

It was just a song that caught on with the tween girls on tik tok

Lil Nas X has been making good music for a while. Check out his soundcloud.
The only reason this specific one is popular is because it is easy to overlay on meme videos.

I do too. The instrumental has some cool stuff going on. It's in some 90s grunge mode.

its the gangnam style of our generation

It’s a 1000x better then it had any right to be. And it’s cool Billy Ray is helping the kid.

But since it’s alreasy well received and a viral meme, we must hate it

It’s literally just a standard rap song.

Nah, I can listen to Old Town Road and enjoy it without a meme music video.

>Trail Mix
>not the Trail Mixtape

>It's in some 90s grunge mode
The guitar and banjo are a Nine Inch Nails sample

can someone fill me in on this song ?
who is this guy?
and why is he recording the same song over and over again?

He made a rap song with a country twang to it, tried to get it on the country music billboard charts, got denied because it’s not country music, so super huge totally not a washed up one hit wonder mega star billy Ray Cyrus rapped a verse on it. You’re all caught up.

>can someone fill me in on this song ?
it's a catchy country-trap song that became a meme off of TikTok and is now an actual hit
>who is this guy?
19 year old rapper from Atlanta, has one mixtape. His stuff isn't exceptional but he doesn't just mumble and he has an ear for hooks. This is his first notable thing
>and why is he recording the same song over and over again?
He's only recorded it twice (and the second time I don't think they redid his vox at all), and it's not weird at all for a rap song with crossover potential on another chart to get a remix. In this case it was just to see if they could force it back onto the country charts, where it would've been #1 this week if it hadn't gotten taken off

>What did you guys think of "Old Town Road"?

it was cool 5 months ago

you mean just Tracy, the remix was shit

He made a country song with a rap twang to it, tried to get it on the country music billboard charts, got denied ,because he's black, so super huge mega country star billy Ray Cyrus sang a verse on it. You’re all caught up.

Charley pride, Aaron Neville, the dude from hoodie and the blowfish have all been on the country billboards. They actually made country music songs.
