Wow, what a really great surprise
That opener

That's actually a really fucking cool cover. This just came out right? I prefer Wise Blood personally but I'll give this a listen.
it's awful. crescendos don't make music good.
Best shill campaign since After Laughter.
Fuck, this is actually really good.
The opener is a lot better than I'd have expected from her desu. The crescendos don't take anything away from this track. The composition is nice, it progresses and builds really well. Excited to hear where this album goes. May disappoint, it may not. Thus far I'm enjoying it though.
I will say, I can't help but feel like I'm just listening to a female Father John Misty.
Frontloaded as fuck
I
DON'T
FUCKING
GET
IT
I just don't get all the amount of love that this album recieves, only movies and wild times are the only songs that are good, the rest it's so bland for me
i actually want to anyone tell me why do everyone think it's a "masterpiece" (according to rym)
not true because movies is on the second half
you are correct, they are wrong.
I won't say it's a masterpiece. On my first listen and Movies literally just started. It definitely seems to be some sort of climax in the album, if you will. This sounds vastly different from everything else before it. I can dig the style she's going for but I wouldn't necessarily call it a masterpiece.
is this supposed to remind me of lana del ray
Can't wait for this record's deserved 9.3 from Pitchfork
OP here, not a masterpiece at all but expected pitchfork core garbage (which I still got in the rest of the album) but the first track was pretty impressive
maybe i was wrong for say it was a masterpiece, but it's so overrated just for being a lana del rey-ish album like said
i gave it 3 listens already, i think it's just not for me
It's got a decent style. Reminds me of Patsy Cline for some reason at some points. But more than anything it just sounds like Father John Misty to a point. I like a few of the tracks but I don't see this being something I listen to regularly.
I'm just admiring everyone's HONEST opinions before Anthony reviews it and it all goes to SHIT
Movies is 10/10. The second half isn't bad at all but Mirror Forever, Wild Time, and Picture Me Better can't compare to A Lot's Gonna Change, Andromeda, Everyday and Something to Believe.
still 9/10 though
ignore the trolls. we love it and so does RYM and everyone else. it won't change after Fantano if you're actually paying attention.
good album cute girl too
I find it far too reliant on its influences. I can't help but think "this sounds like Getting Better, this sounds like After Hours" etc. There's even a unique refrain in Everyday (@ 3:26) that sounds like it's a purposeful reference to God Only Knows, a song Natalie has even recently covered.
That's what you think, just you wait and see, these faggots never change
This
Man it's been years since I loved an entire album so completely I had no idea it was getting hype like this I just liked the cover and checked it out, been listening to it all day
Vocals comfy af
I really like this. Best new album I’ve listen since Blackstar i guess
beach house x the carpenters x tim buckley x feist x father john misty
but 100x worse than any of those artists
nah, she's a fully mature artist that used to make edgelord noise shit as a late teen
And of course there are those on Yea Forums who think it's the untouchable AOTY already. It's nice but it seems like it will be a bit of a novelty. It also drags on a bit. Movies helps to break it up some but even that is just a change in instrumentation and it drags on still. I really don't know that RYM is going to wet the bed over it either. Especially when they realize it's some Father John Misty type "I Love You Honeybear" style shit. This place will be calling it reddit-core in a month.
It's pretty decent, and I like the kinda classic feel it has, but yeah it isn't a top AOTY or anything. Movies is definitely the standout, but I felt like the last section of the song could've been done better. I was a bit let down by the end of it. Good stuff though, but some forgettable songs.
