At what age did you grow out of genre tourism?
At what age did you grow out of genre tourism?
Please explain to me in full detail what genre tourism is.
Who the fuck prefers the version of Repeater with the 3 added songs?
>die lit
How can trap rap have a "tourist-core" album? jfc it's all surface level shit anyways. It should be considering the entirety of hip hop.
Also Birth of a New Day is the highest regarded vaporwave album because it's the only good one.
listening to only the most acclaimed, well known artists/albums of many different genres and never developing your own curated taste of favorites
I'm both a big fan of math rock and Midwest emo fan as well as a fan of Atlanta trap and I have to say, JCBFDWA is easily the best Midwest emo album of all time and Die Lit is not only carti's best work, but the best Atlanta trap album of all time.
Eccojams is better
Who prefers repeater over 13 Songs?
What genre is the Neon Indian album tourist of and what's some other stuff like it
>Eccojams is better
nah.
the only thing you curate are the dicks going into your mouth
You are wrong on both counts friend. Ecco Jams is NOT better than Replica and JCBFDWA is NOT better than Some Kind of Cadwallader.
i like that, gonna go make a post on r/music about it now thanks!
The casual glance at a genre's "most significant and essential" albums, listening to them, say that theyre classics, and move onto the next "important" album of another genre, without actually trying to delve deeper into the genre. This basically gives a listener a bland palate and takes from them any ability to connect with a genre and simply just listen to the critics.
Example: Jane Doe is the best metalcore album ever (doesnt even listen to Botch or Cave In)
faggots, but my point still stands.
idk
i kinda do tourisim to just see what's the fuss is all about, and to try shit that i'm not really a fan of.
cringe
I'm glad we can agree on both fronts. To be honest Repeater is quite possibly my least favorite Ian MacKaye related album.
There is nothing wrong with being a tourist if there is at least one genre that you are not a tourist of.
16
when i got access to the internet
>band from the northeast
>Midwest Emo
Frame & Canvas is the correct answer by the way, followed by Nothing Feels Good
t. 19 year old
I thought you were referring to that tripfag, ah well Yea Forums isn't the same anymore...
there literally only is one good shoegaze album though, its such a shit genre
3 Songs is a good EP.
who the fuck whines about this? you can end it wherever you want
you mean grow into it?
real adults don't pigeonhole themselves into one style of music kiddo
you dont know what genre tourism is
see
People like what they like and like to delve into other musical genres. This is the same exact shit that made people not like you here because you'll do anything to divert from any actual discussion.
There's nothing wrong with bouncing around genre to genre, having a broad and eclectic taste in music and other things is admirable. Don't let some faggot on Yea Forums take that from you.
>having a broad and eclectic taste in music and other things is admirable
not when your "le broad" and "le eclectic" taste is just the most surface level classic albums from a certain genre
Sometimes surface level makes people dig deeper into something. Kill yourself.
then they wouldnt be genre tourist lmao
>
and fuck you too you rat looking motherfucker, you have just the amount of value as vermin too
oh and I'm sorry, I forgot.
Kill yourself.
is this what you always do when you get called out for saying stupid shit?
Nothing I said was stupid shit, in anyway shape or form.
okay buddy
how are rallizes tourist
might as well shit on keiji hano for no other reason than being a complete "obscure XD" retard
Nothing is tourist. Like what you like, and listen to what you listen to.
babbys first "obscure" japanese psych
So, most normal people. Got it.
seconding 13 Songs is a better album
Suggestions is the best Fugazi song
the Reddit mentality
>tries to be normal
>posts on an anime school shooter forum
maybe youd prefer reddit?
Yea Forums is has been invaded by reddit at this point. Not sure what you expected.
>normal people
go back
also you'll never be a woman m8
It's almost like there's a reason they're popular. You probably complain when people drive a new ford fusion instead of some mid-2000s shitbox
gracefully compared an objective, very small not and not in the slightest diverse market to an art form
i have not found a single emo band i've liked except the brave little abacus and some japanese bands
Where's Loveless?
Since when is it better to just stick to one genre instead of listening to various genres and expand my horizons?
...
Sunny day real estate
The best Fugazi album is The Argument
Based
If you enjoy a popular and acclaimed example of something, why wouldn't you dig deeper and try to find more obscure releases that may appeal to you even more?
A lot of my "special place in my heart" tier albums were found from digging through back catalogues or forums- not bragging or trying to sound hipster, but popularity doesn't mean something is the apex of its genre.
>also you'll never be a woman m8
Where the heck did that come from? That's a really odd thing to say to a completely anonymous poster. Do you have something to tell us about yourself, user?
I'm a genre tourist for esoteric sub-genres whose parent genres I normally dislike or don't listen to, and the artists are practically unknown, Share threads are a great place for that kinda backdoor tourism
every genre tourist has listened to diary so you're not really being helpful here
