Why should I separate art from the artist? How am I supposed to take upper middle class depression seriously when there are so many more genuine musicians out there?

Trips of truth
>Why should I separate art from artist?
Because your function in society is to consume.
I think you should separate the art from the artist, but only to an extent. I don't listen to music made by rapists because I can't separate that, but with less extreme instances all that matters is if you find the music beautiful. Art isn't the artists relationship with the piece, it's the viewers. If you form a relationship with a piece of art, then who cares who wrote it, what the intent was, or what the culture around it is?

Because an intelligent critic wants to understand the art, especially if you have a "relationship" with it?
Based globalist poster
Genuinely gay
It doesn't get more real than this.
Explain it then, Id like to hear your opinion
Not gonna claim to have *the* definition of depression here, but I’ll say it’s when you cant stop being sad even though you shouldn’t be
Idk most of my friends were upper middle class and while I wouldn't call it depression I'm sure that theres something going on with those people
I don't disagree
Muh not real depression post.
More pain doesn’t make your art more genuine, also people of any background can be depressed.
I’d go even further to say
being really sad for legitimate reasons doesn’t mean you’re depressed (it’s healthy to be sad about actual sad things), but it can make you get depressed if it’s bad enough or if it goes on too long.
...which is why it's genuine
>He cares more about the artist's personal life rather than if the song/album is able to capture the feeling of depression.
yeah i'm thinking you are just a pleb who is unable to interpret the music by itself
>separating the art from the artist
>calling other people pleb
Kek
>>He cares more
No I dont
go back
No

True Tbh, modern consumercucks don't have real feelings, only the 18th century privileged leisure class were real people.
Depression doesn't have to be a result of being poor. I'm poor myself but rich people have their own problems
What?
Yea Forums isn't ready for based Blind Willie.
Depression doesn't have to be a result of being poor. I'm poor myself but rich people have their own problems
they dont call it the blues for nothin.......
What does that have to do with anything I said?
Will they ever be?
Because people are weirdly fascinated with the resourcefulness of the ignorant and have some distrust of tutored shit
i hope you're joking, he was reinforcing your statement
Oh I see fair enough
what does "separating art from the artist" mean? meaning you pretend that the knowledge of who that person is isn't affecting your perception of it? so if you refuse to separate the art from the artist, does that mean you're just pretending that the artist's life is making you think that you like or dislike something? why do you think you have any remote clue as to why you like things? why do you think it's even possible for you to form an opinion about this non-existent subject?
upper class depression is actually far more real than other kinds of depression. other kinds of depression are shaped by worldly concerns and human attachment and upper class depression is shaped by solipsism and perplexity.
It is genuine but also pathetic.
>artistic integrity is pathetic
No
as a upper middle class kid myself, shut the fuck up
Sorry bud, but middle-class neuroticism will never be cool.
Everyone seems disingenuous compared to Blind Willie Johnson.
It has been, and still is
based
ahahah whatever you say
I'm deeply racist and I love the blues. Fite me.
>i'm retarded
okay
