What do I think of them Yea Forums?
What do I think of them Yea Forums?
i had a friend who kept telling me to listen to them, and i never did, and that really upset him. now he's a massive leftard faggot
Cool story bro
thanks :3
you unironically should
BJM are great
I broke their sitar
motherfucker!
Great band, nice variety between albums with a Rolling Stones feel to them but more interesting
Every album has been derivative. I think they're more concerned with their image and marketability than actually expressing their emotions through music. In that way, they're a band for idiots.
1996 BJM is best band of the 90's. Fuck Nirvana fuck oasis fuck grunge. After 98 it's all downhill
>image and marketability
o I am laffin
Man can you explain why they have explored every dead genre instead of trying something new? I think they're trying to capitalize on the scarcity of new music for dadrock enthusiasts. I think their lame "abrasive rock star" image, seen especially in the documentary with the Dandy Warhols, is forced. I think Anton Newcombe is a drug addled loser who hasn't conceptualized a single original idea into his art and is most concerned with clout, hopping on the backs of Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, MBV, etc to achieve that fame. What do you think?
TBJM are fuckin rad, my favorite band from the 90's and some of the first songs I learned on guitar were off Take It From the Man
Overrated, only good song is straight up and down
Anton himself has stated that not only is Dig wildly inaccurate in portraying himself, but also of how the band tries to reinvent the sound of these older records. It's not simply copy and pasting the same 6 or 7 records over and over again, it's still trying to create something unique. And Dig failed to show that Anton still tried to get with record companies and such and trying to get the band signed, but he was just very picky about shitty contacts that companies were obsessed with in the 90's. 50/50 is not a good deal no matter how you look at it especially from an artist's perspective. Also, Anton's clean from heroine for a long while now
Nice samefagging
i just listened to pol pot's pleasure funhouse and really loved it, chameleons especially.
what should i listen to next?
Thank god for mental illness
(Acoustic jams)
Take it from the man
(Awesome garage rock)
Their satanic majesties second request
(Psychedelic mellotron heavy grooves)
All of these albums were recorded in one year
A truly epic and prolific band
You forgot Everyone Says
Imagine being this angry over a band
The schtick got old.
Exactly, it's the best run of albums of the decade. Who cares if it's nostalgia laden, it's done well. Those three albums are totally different sounds, most bands can't even dream of putting out such variety in music, let alone all in a year.
I member thinking they were some Ramones knock off band. Am I right though?
Big fat agree.
Also Joel Gion's self-titled record is a spectacular album that deserves a lot more attention than it gets.
Not at all
Give it Back is also great
I was going to say something but then realised I was thinking of the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion.
They're sort of like the american fall imo
Such a good album. Who is probably my favourite bjm song
I've only listened to half of their first album and it was a total My Bloody Valentine rip-off.
Most shoegaze records are mbv ripoffs. Spacegirl is better than loveless
as something I once read -
they know how to make a decent album, but no idea how to make a decent song
Listening to one of their albums for the first time right now. This sounds like 4 heroin addicts recorded a jam session. It's pretty psychedelic though.
having strong opinions =/= being angry
lol
They've managed to keep making very good material with the same three chords for almost 30 years, so yeah they're pretty great.
sounds literally nothing like loveless, BJM also had a higher focus on vocals and way more bluesy influenced
loveless is much more so just creating waves of sounds and having one Melody persist through a song with incoherent singing which served more as a instrument than a delivery of something thematic
your friend is based
I just listened to Methodrone. Very good.
Revelation is my favorite album of the decade, not one bad song. still confused to this day how it came out of nowhere. most of their music from that period is average.
Their Satanic Majesties Second Request is the best psyche album of the 90's IMO
They’re great
I think both of his albums are fantastic
you don't even know man
No but writing a gay little essay is
