Why do you guys always have to bully me : (

>Listening to majority female "artists"

I'm really frustrated with a lot of things in life right now and I genuinely want to kill myself again. I'm just super tired of everything and I really wonder what I'm fighting for at this point. Lifting weights is the only outlet for my frustrations but it's annoying having a nearly 300lb total now and still looking like an obese neckbeard. I'm ugly as fukk so idc that much but it's just like lol I got into this to improve myself and now it's just another source of self loathing and pain. Can nearly skwat 1pl8 and still a little BITCH dude

then my dad basically slowly dying
my best imaginary friend being a succesful electrician about to get married seemingly with about zero interest in being friends with me again and with that I'm basically completely alone in the world now
being broke in a bunch of credit card debt because my dad screwed me over
to add insult to injury I burned the left side of my chest severely and it kept me up all night
just overall in a terrible, shitty place
live with toxic ppl who raise my BP

t. literally slept on the floor for all of middle school and highschool

I want people to laugh at me because it seems to motivate me out of depressive funks but holy shit when I was a kid I genuinely thought I was gonna be cool not some fucking loser listening to Joji in his bed at 6:45am

do you think your child self would be dissappointed in you?

Hell yeah man, full of hell was my first show. I was 16 I believe, the merzbow tour. Awesome stuff. Great chart btw

ok fine I'll stop being lazy and contribute to the thread, here are some things that aren't recs
(I am btw)

this is nice, I like how a lot of these albums have a kind of quality where they are superficially breezy and effortless but have an underlying tension
stuff I would listen to at night in the summer
I do not listen to much of this but it evokes the image of an eccentric uncle
I like the energy here overall and you reminded me about that album with the teacup, so nice
I like your taste but I think you value raw emotional expression more than me as the few releases I see here that I dislike I dislike for reasons relating to that
also I would confidently diagnose you with anxiety based off this chart alone
this chart gets better for me the further down I go, first 3 rows are meh for me but the last 3 are based
I fucking hate that david thomas broughton album though
based zoomer poster
listen to the essentials
we both enjoy a nice layer of weirdness over traditional pop sensibilities
weird chart for me because there's nothing on here I really love but nothing I dislike either. every single one of the albums I've heard on here is pretty good, nothing more nothing less
so pretty good chart I guess

Glad ya like it. Has an organic and detailed lo-fi production that should interest Mount Eerie/Microphones fans I'd think

you're a good boy user

What about the people you didn’t reply to huh

I've always casually enjoyed some Thou stuff so I'm sure I'll like this one
I'd say that I value emotional expression quite a bit, yeah. and I definitely do have anxiety so good job on that one lmao

they can suck eggs

>Negura Bunget - Om
BASED. Best Atmospheric Black Metal band in existence. Thank for reminding me about them. Not much black metal from Romania but they certainly gave the country a high standard. I'll be sure to check out Dodechaedron.

Bjork is peak avant-pop, being accessible yet experimental enough to not be generic. She's worth your time, check out the Debut or Homogenic as they're her Magnum Opuses imo.
Dr. Octagon is amazing so far. Cool, catchy beats. His rapping style is a bit odd, but I can stomach Danny Brown so not an issue.

ur welk
>Carly Rae Jepsen - Emotion Side B
I got through half of Emotion. Got bored and stop. Is there anything on Side B that's good? Does it sound anything like peak Bjork?

Wow I regret sleeping on her now. Debut is super tight, everything is very unique.

Not very nice of you
Emotion Side B is like 20 minutes dude

you've got some nice picks on here. Flesh of my skin, blood of my blood is especially good. For some reason my dl of that had the second "blood" spelled "bloof" so I still remember it that way unforunately. Idk what to rec, sorry. Maybe Culture - Two Sevens Clash if you haven't heard it

I feel like there's stuff on here people might make fun of you for, but they shouldn't. That post malone for instance is pretty dope. Good taste in blur too. Not sure what to rec though, but good chart.

What's your favorite Stockhausen? You listened to Trans or Hymnen, thoughts on them?

I don't really want recs, but talk to me about any albums/artists/genres/scenes on here you have an opinion on, or say whatever

Attached: no interzone otherwise good.png (2689x2191, 1.21M)

>Emotion Side B is like 20 minutes dude
I meant the original Emotion. Was generic and generally unexciting for me. Side B is more of the generic Madonna pop stuff which isn't bad per se, but doesn't really do anything for me.
I'd rather put on Bjork or Joanna Newsom. Thanks for the recc though.

Not him so I’m not hurt by it

I want to spread your cheeks and horsewhip your anus for posting a chart so bad and gay

>I'd rather put on Bjork or Joanna Newsom.
haha

Can you rec some ambient pop?
I have heard of the genre and am intested but know nothing of it

There isn't really any ambient pop on my chart, and I don't know much about the genre, sorry
tf

I don’t recognize anything on your chart but Neu Codiene or Duster and i know nothing about them
Can you get me a quick rundown

David Sylvian - Secrets of the Beehive
Julia Holter - Ekstasis
Antena - Camino del sol

Neu is krautrock- that album is super groovy and atmospheric instrumental... rock I guess? It's highly repetitive as its most recognizable feature and has a sort of blissed out, naturalistic feeling, like a lot of shoegaze I guess, even though it isn't. Codeine and Duster are both slowcore- Codeine is absolutely what you'd think of as slowcore... very slow, and, on Frigid Stars at least, with a cool tinny recording quality and alternating clean, plucked guitars with soft dynamics, and super loud overdriven chord-playing guitars. It kind of sounds like doom metal, but without the metal and super sadboy instead. Good, depressive lyrics. Duster really doesn't sound much like slowcore to me even though it technically is, it's very riff focused and very atmosphere focused with its cool 4 track tape deck production- someone I was talking to said it was practically ambient music, and I at least see his point. Most of the stuff on the chart is more outsider or classical

Thank you, Codeine is now #1 on my to listen to list now. 100% sold.
Can you tell me more about the rest of your chart?

>I can never recommend you anything new
no worries! im thankful that you do rec to me, i notice that i tend to not be responded to often in threads. i dont think my taste is too obtuse, but that might just be because i know everything on my chart pretty intimately...
when i get recs i already know, i take that time to relisten to them.
i dont know this eetp guy though, so i'll be checking him out!
>you got last.fm or rym or something?
ive tried but they end up just not being used. chart threads are the most performance i do with my music taste & its mostly because i like to recommend things to other people.
i see that berlioz composition on your chart here, and i give you major ups for it. fucking love that guy's compositions.
heres some more recs for you, and im just sharing them from what i've been listening to recently:
ryusuke seto - miroku
sunshine has blown - s/t
pretty much all of sir richard bishop's work
daisuke tobari - guitar

i dont see the glow pt. 2 on either of your charts. i feel like you'd really like it. have you not listened to it yet?

Sure. I'm a huge Jandek fan so a lot of his albums are on my chart. His music is very simple- most of his albums are built around one or another (acoustic) guitar tunings of his devising, and he just makes songs with those 6 notes. The tunings he creates are very powerful and there's an insanely strong sense of atmosphere on his records, it's as if you're in the room with him, or maybe just overhearing someone in another room. Other albums of his stray from the simple tuning, with largely free form and improvised "rock" records with (presumably) non musicians, and other albums with stuff that's a bit more conventional, kind of TVU-ish. His lyrics are amazing too, he's my favorite lyricist. A lot of grappling with impermanence and fate.

Another artist on there I'd highly recommend is The Shadow Ring. They have a lot of cool, surreal and abstract spoken word stuff over (similar to Jandek) simple and amateur-sounding guitar- and in their case, primitive electronic tones, and sometimes manipulations to the recording. Actually, they throw a lot of stuff in but it's still very minimal and crude sounding. To me it has a dystopian sound, as if the band is playing music secretly because it's outlawed, and they have something dire to convey, but they can't do it directly for mysterious reasons.

Classical wise, I'm mostly into atonal stuff. I feel like music that rejects strict adherence to key allows for much more colorful music, and music that can express the way emotions and thoughts are experienced better, because it's not bound to a straight forwardly happy or sad mood. Some composers I like the best are Luigi Nono, Alfred Schnittke, and Galina Ustvolskaya. Nono uses electronics a lot and has relatively atmospheric music, Schnittke likes to mash up music from a variety of styles... both those composers are two of the most hellish sounding composers I know, so I guess that's my bias. Er... max message length...

Ustvolskaya's approach is to sound very crude, similar to Jandek or The Shadow Ring, but somehow it manages to be meditative under that so it fills me with a strange feeling of goodwill and universal love. This is a good resource for atonal classical music I've found, also I'd recommend reading "The Rest Is Noise" by Alex Ross if you're interested in it rateyourmusic.com/list/docperkins/atonal-nightmares-matters-trespass-or-perish-music-for-those-who-bored-with-modernity-switched-to-eternity/

I expected some MDB worship I would have liked but holy shit this is a surprise. Absolutely amazing album. No idea what I'd call this, doom power metal? Great stuff.
of montreal was always one of those "I should get into them" sometime bands, I look forward to finally doing it as per your rec

hissing fauna is definitely their most masterful album. if you like it, listen to skeletal lamping. its my favorite album of theirs and is definitely their most creative. i love it because the highs are higher, but there are some more mediocre points. hissing fauna is just Clean and Masterful, but it really doesn't have anything as joyous as the transition from touched something hollow to an eluardian instance.

if you end up really loving them, i dont recommend any of their albums after paralytic stalks, or any before sunlandic twins (except maybe satanic panic in the attic).

First time doing one of these. This is what Ive been listening to the most in the last month or so.

I went to a festival 2 years ago where they played Hissing Fauna from front to back. I was about 3 rows back and Kevin was dressed in full drag and dancing everywhere on stage. Probably the best set I've ever seen.

goddamn, i'm jealous. i wish i liked them during the skeletal lamping era. i would've Loved to see that performed live.

I did a little googling and I'm pretty sure this Halley Labs Sound Creation collective is a group of furries making music for furry stuff

Welp... the music is good I guess
I'll just ignore the fact they're furries

:)) love u guys
whoa you recognized the berlioz comp, I have a ton of the living stereo compilation of albums downloaded but they rarely make it onto any of my charts. I'll check out all your recs man the only reason I ask is because you're a wavy guy and I was just wondering if you had anything I could contact you on desu. Also the glow part 2 is on my main chart near the bottom, I like it but Mount Eerie sticks out far more and the middle is iffy sometimes, but its still an incredible album :)

god damn youre right i didnt see either mount eerie or the glow pt 2. here i was wondering why they werent on your charts since theyre both up your alley.
ive been listening to it a lot more recently. dont know why its sticking out to me more because im just as stable in my relationship now as i was when i first heard it.
the only social media i still use is tumblr, honestly. the appeal of using a dying website is so fun to me. youre welcome to follow me there, my url is nahofficial, but if you don't have a tumblr i so fucking understand. its a bad site.

yea I've been doing the same with mount eerie, both albums are fantastic

sent you a message on tumblr btw

pls no hate just give recs

Amazing taste my friend... I’d recommend Lou Diamond (lead singer of Jank)’s other band, Panucci’s Pizza, but other than that not much.

yeah Lou is kind of scummy. But damn if he didnt make the greatest sparklepunk record ill be damned. He's scum but i love spinning my copy of APS on vinyl. Talented guy, shame he let his demons get to him.

I've listened to Hymnen and it was one of the most difficult pieces I've listened to, up until this moment. Though, it was mesmerising, as I was sitting in my room at one o'clock in the morning with my headphones on. It felt as if I were inside an electronic circuit, traveling to nowhere.
Haven't listened to Trans yet, but I will.
As for favourite pieces, I really enjoyed Gruppen, Klavierstück and Sirius.

Wishbone ash - argus
Pls give recs
