pet sounds is half an hour of amazing pop. smile sessians is nearly 50 minutes of brian's interconnecting small and great pieces into a true epic that would never have been done in its actual time.
Pet Sounds is more of a consistent album but Smile has the biggest heights the bbs reached.

Yea but they don’t connect and don’t flow in and out of each other, that’s my point. Sure it has highs like Heroes and Villians, Good Vibrations, Vega Tables, etc but there a ton of tracks that are just kinda thrown on there like “fuck it, you imagine how I should’ve finished it”. Pet Sounds has just as high of highs and is completely composed and well thought out throughout the entire record. That’s much more valuable to me than a record with a few killer tracks and a bunch of scraps

they are all finished pieces of music and they all connect. brian's writing style saw him try write many different interchangeable musical elements and then bring them together in the production. it was meant to be like that.
the 3 songs after heroes and villains were contenders for being used in the former but were later planned to be used for the album. one interconnected album with H&V as the centerpiece. the trumpet at the end of gee repeats at heroes and villains. the melody of do you like forms evolved from H&V. Child is the father of man comes back up in Surfs Up.
the only thing your post rings true about is My Only Sunshine (The Old Master Painter / You Are My Sunshine) and I Wanna Be Around / Workshop. they were just ramdom ideas added together
