Reminder a nearly thirty year old man made this album, not an edgy teenager who just got grounded, but an actual grown man.

Awful opinion
I always thought that though.
and that same album sold millions of copies and is considered one of the best in its genre

You can't accurately look back at Downward Spiral after growing up with emo, nu metal, noise rock etc, that's like dismissing the cultural impact of Columbine cause we've had worse school shootings since then. When it first came out lyrics about cutting yourself and screaming "KILL ME" weren't overused memes, they shook people and caused major political backlash. Listened to it the other day and while the lyrics haven't aged the best its definitely still 10/10 industrial, not really many records like it with the same punch
I agree, although I do wish maybe trent left Big man with a gun off it. I used to think it has its place on the album because everything flowed so smoothly but now idk
a 30 year old junkie
Downward Spiral isn't even Trent at his edgiest, is the thing. The Fragile has more desolate and angsty tracks than TDS does.
It resonates well with me and the sound is cool. It's a little more challenging to listen to than bands that are more commercialized which have come later, just a little more for the ear.
Someone dump the ones with Manson too please
Late 20's is not an "old man", young zoomer.
In the masses of of angst anthems that came from the 90s, people forget it was Reznor who did it first. Any depreciation for him writing an album based on what's going on inside his head at the time was caused by the countless bands that tried to ape him and failed.
TDS is not my favourite album. Tront > Trent because the angst is bubbling inside and far more directed in later albums (The Slip onwards to the trilogy)
Alcoholic. The Fragile was the on and off junkie mode Trent
It's a production masterpiece and for being a bipolar heroin junkie, Trent could have been way more annoying.
>Failing for the heroin meme because he said 'needle' in one song
Holy shit stop
this right here. fuck you OP. what do you like? lets shit on that?
Heroin, alcohol, whatever the fuck it was. He went to rehab. Does the drug matter?
Let's be real. It had to be one stupid dog to just jump off that balcony
He was clean during the production of all his studio albums
Manson was mad
>a 30 year old man made one of the greatest albums of the 90s
Based Trent
27-28
Imagine complaining about the lyrical content in this album when PHM exists and was written by a 24 year old man who cracked up his diary and pulled passages out to write the lyrics
I thought he was definately doing drugs around the recording of The Fragile and Still
reminder that Trent Reznor backwards is Ron Zertnert
Still was produced in the first year of his sobriety and The Fragile was done after his first stint in rehab. He fell off the wagon during the Fragility tour
Laehcim Ron Zertnert
so what's your point. it's great.

the best trent comic
>When it first came out lyrics about cutting yourself and screaming "KILL ME" weren't overused memes, they shook people and caused major political backlash.
Yikes. You realize genres like death metal and hardcore punk were doing shit like that all the way back in the 80s right? I don't even hate NIN, but let's not lie here, they've always been teen angst core, nothing that profound unless you're a goth chick aged 16
But did any of that earlier iterations hit the normie's zeitgeist back then? TDS sold millions of albums, and the songs were brought to the public through Clinton era censorship and the columbine shootings. This was not the first album to do that, but it was the biggest
TDS is like a perfect album.
lol zoomers are such pompous pampered pussies.
Precisely.
youtube.com
thtat guy, whats his name, is a boomer faggot and so is anyone who still listens to this record
Aww. Are you still mad that he fucked your mom?
Baste
broken was the edgy album. fragile was the epic/sad album.
>People who still don't know TDS was a concept album
Yikers....
zoomers don't like to hear about other people's feelings. Shocker
>he get emotional over this shit album
>what's his name
Why do zoomers larp as google-oblivious boomers?
