their manager/vocalist was notorious for his inclination towards young girls.
>Markley was less concerned about the band's actual performance than he was with the crowd a rock band brought, particularly young women. His obsession with young girls would be part of Markley's personality that would directly affect his later music.

Dude I heard o this band called Tan Apollo
Dude maaaan it's so trippy
the dude plays his guitar and then it starts going WoooSSShhWooooSSSHhhh it's so sick bro

I recommend gottsching's private tapes if you like them, as well as everything he's involved

What makes something psychedelic? I mean why is this considered psychedelic?

do psychedelics and you’ll understand :)

I find your opinion weird since i would consider ash ra tempel the most psychedelic thing in the thread! they featured timothy leary on an album for christs sake

it's a very broad therm
I myself think dronier stuff is more fitting

Black Foliage: Animation Music Volume One is better

if it sounds like it is opening an inner gate in your mind, it is psychedelic

take out the 10 minutes of painfully boring musique concrete and you've got a pretty great track.

YAll hear bout the we Mexican Summer movie/soundtrack coming out. It’s more surf I guess but they have psychedelic artists like mgmt, Connan Mockasin and Allal ahs

You weren't kidding, this makes Smile look like taking Tylenol...

I really enjoy albums like this and 13th floors elevators first album that are literally about the psychedelic experience and try to guide you to higher consciousness as the theme

This whole album is good, but this song gives me the feeling of tripping like nothing else, which is weird because the last time I tripped was before hearing this.

This thread is so comfy

Mgmt has always been good

youtube.com/watch?v=7WrA0iGsYqk
love this track

Its interesting to see the different elements that make an album psychedelic. Like Pink Floyd and Animal Collective are wildy different but both express the psychedelic experience almost perfectly.

Theres eastern influenced stuff with sitar and flutes and then neo psych that borders electronic and funk. Its just so eclectic

Nice pick!

Eclecticism is sort of a natural consequence when you think about it, a recurring theme of the psychedelic experience is a dissolution of borders between things. nondualism manifested in music would naturally be a sort of harmonic hodgepodge

It sounds like Cream and Magical Mystery Tour

unironic question - does anyone older than like 23 do psychedelics? if so how?

i've tripped 4-5 times back in college and had a blast every time but now, working full time with endless real responsibilities and not being just a shithead college kid, i feel like i wouldn't be able to properly enjoy a trip. hell i can barely smoke pot anymore.

Listen while I play my

m.youtube.com/watch?v=bI1EOxwnpvk

I'm 28 and did a lot of LSD when I was 25/26 and employed full time.

The trick is to not be married and to do it on a saturday. Also, not to do too much so that you dont trip out for weeks on end.

As i've gotten older, though, ive completely lost the desire. Maybe the novelty wore off? maybe I just wasn't feeling like it was as nice/impactful as the first few.

i only really ever do it when camping these days, not because i'm one of those anti-tripping-indoors elitists but just because that's the only time i feel i have the mental space to accommodate a trip. i could theoretically trip on saturdays or something but idk, i'm reluctant to have that sort of experience on just a random weekend.

Is Yes psychedelic?

Anyone here like EEEKS?

Psychedelic rock is usually in the style of bands playing rock at the time lsd became popular in the US. Is this "the" trippy music? of course not, listen to your favorite music, or something completely new on LSD. But the state does lend itself to certain tolerances. Time is quantum/irrelevant while tripping, so longer songs with large improvisational sections to get lost in are common. They also tend to feature large rythmic and tonal ranges as opposed to pop music.

Always looking for recommendations

a very underrated austrian psych/stoner rock album. a nice drowsy hypnotic sort of sound. stays clear of the heavy side of the stoner genre.
