i think her music is too intense and weird to be popular enough to be talked about here

Guernica's first album is really good, this is an absolutely mad song youtube.com/watch?v=oM6XTkijKzg
this one is really cool too youtube.com/watch?v=ARhBaXrOCUk

Koji Ueno made the soundtrack to one of the most underrated animes, Fantastic Children

I love her, similar music to her, check out the Japanese band Aunt Sally

151a was really well received here and talked about somewhat often for a little bit, but it's been at least a year or two since I've seen his name mentioned on this board

Jai Paul especially his leaked album it's underrated as fuck and incredibly influential especially today in popular music

he released a comfy song recently too like a week ago

can't wait for the album to drop!

all the girl ones with billions of views. underrated in the nigga community

were you not here in 2013? there was so much discussion and hype for jai.
the reason nobody talks about him anymore is because the fag's been sitting on a giant pile of money refusing to make more music.

Guernica is fantastic, their other albums and live stuff is also great though, all solid. I do prefer the synth sounds of the first 2 albums personally, but the lush orchestration on the 3rd one is excellent and more realized. Their live stuff is usually just Ueno on piano only and it also sounds amazing.
I didn't know about that one, I'll check it out. My first contact with Ueno's music was in Royal Space Force/Honneamise no tsubasa, where he co-wrote the soundtrack with none other than Ryuichi Sakamoto.

Of course I love Jun Togawa too. Her most recent CD with Kei Okubo was pretty nice. The other day she had her birthday live gig, and I've read from fans online that her singing is getting pretty good (she abandoned singing for years)

one day i will watch Honneamise no tsubasa

It's one of my favorite animation films ever. Really unique on all aspects, not just the soundtrack.
Also, the OST cover art kinda looks like the Guernica album covers.

The Plague Dogs and Akira are my favourite animation films, The Plague Dogs is really good

i see the similarity with the man and the woman between th

She isn't all that special, user. She's only the most visible figure in a massive new wave / synth pop scene that existed in the second largest music market in the world.

>She isn't all that special, user.
I can't really think of other singers within the pop/rock music realm like her, other than Kate Bush. Kate isn't as wild as Jun though.

that might mean something too though, she made some really good music and that's enough to be special probably

>anime with children protagonists
really fucking cringe

Girl of the Alps Heidi is a classic and is anime with children protagonists. Way to display your plebness.

I know they were supposedly huge in NZ and Australia but they're basically a one hit wonder here in America, so it doesn't surprise me that Yea Forums never talks about them, but personally I think they're very underrated on this board. Woodface is one of my favorite 90s albums.

There's plenty of them. Madonna, Lady Gaga, even Miley Cyrus. You may argue that she sings better than them, but they're still only performers.

Lady Gaga, maybe, but not really, never heard her do any actually skillful operatics.
>Madonna
At least you could have said Cyndi Lauper who actually knows how to sing.

I haven't even heard Jun do skillful operatics. Or anyone in pop in the last 50 years. It seems that only sounding like you are doing so is enough to wow the audience.

Operatics would probably alienate most people nowadays though, you wouldn't "wow" them.
I actually meant to say I never even heard Gaga perform any operatics at all, skillful or not.

As I said, it hasn't been in fashion since the rock n roll age. That said, Gaga is a brilliant performer of the ebonic soulful wailing that would be as alien to the japanese market.

Dreams Come True is one of the biggest pop units there, and the vocalist sings in soul/r&b style.
Anyway, OP never even said Jun is "special" (even if she is), he just said he'd like Yea Forums to discuss her more. Which I guess we're doing now.

She's brought up like every week, mostly in the context of some clueless teenager discovering her in his youtube recommendations after listening to some obscure anime soundtrack, oblivious to just how massive japanese music is.

You're getting some sick trips man.
Anyway, if Jun comes up on YT recs, that'd be cool IMO, but I think "city pop" stuff is more likely to come up.
Also, I'm not sure if I'd like Jun to get more popular on Yea Forums. One one hand, I'd enjoy discussing her works, but the shitposting/waifufaggotry might be intense.

How does he have money if he's makes no music. Doesn't he only have like a couple tracks out
