Britpop newfag here, why does Oasis > Blur seem to be such a common opinion on Yea Forums? I could see thinking Definitely Maybe is better than any single record Blur put out, but at least Blur had plenty of hit singles and good records throughout there career, whereas no one really gives a shit about any of Oasis’s stuff after Morning Glory.

I always assumed it was due to Oasis’s music being a lot more generic in the sense of catchiness and the lyrics. Blur was way more specifically British which I think turns off a lot of non-Anglos. Oasis’s lyrics were pretty generically universal
oasis is for alpha males blur is for homos simple as
TODAY IS GONNA BE THE DAY
The Masterplan?

It’s especially weird considering how much Blur sounds like bands Yea Forums likes, like XTC, Cardiacs, The Kinks, etc. I’ve always preferred Blur.
PARKLIFE
Retarded Britbongs fell for the “Blur are rich snobs, Oasis are the WORKING CLASS!” marketing (as if both bands weren’t rich and popular as fuck)
Pulp and Suede are Yea Forums's favorite britpop bands
Gallaghers were really poor.
Even among Oasis fans I don’t know anyone who has an opinion or has listened to their stuff after Be Here Now. Blur at least stayed consistent (or some people would say got better) over the years. Even the Magic Whip was pretty enjoyable, if nothing amazing
Blur were better for longer and much more diverse but Oasis first 2 albums shit all over them plus all of their singles were still good after that even if the albums weren't great. I'd say
DM > WTSMG > MLIR - 13 > Oasis post BHN > Blurs other stuff
My point is by the time both bands were big enough to be popular they were rich as fuck, so who cares if they were poor at some point...
Imagine being such a worthless loser that your justification for liking someone is that they’re as much of a pointless drain on society as you
>singer drinks and smokes excessively to the point of permanently fucking his voice up
i've heard a huge contributor to this was the way he'd sing upwards into the mic
The problem with Yea Forumss opinion on Suede is that Yea Forums think that Suede made their best albums with Bernard Butler when in reality their best album is Coming Up.
This
Never got the Oasis hype, every time I hear a song it's the same few chords with some twat with a small vocabulary banging on about some shite. Can't fucking stand the haircut either, every time I see some geezer with it I automatically think he's a nonce desu. It's not rational I know but I can't help it
Love Blue and Gardeners stuff in Ride though. Oasis is music for babies and I just go out for a ciggy if it comes on in a nightclub
Coming Up is a great collection of ultra catchy song while Dog Man Star is more ambitious
They also had great B-sides of course
I swear Oasis has the phrase “the key to the door” in like eight different songs
Faggy britpop
Both of those are shittier than Blur, speak for yourself cunt
All britpop is shit and it killed off alternative music in Britain. We had shoegaze and postrock in the early 90s and then Britpop came along fuck Britpop and all the shit bands of the 2000s that came as a result.
Blur's shit sounds dated and Oasis made a few albums of perfect pop rock songs. They have some tunes but overall, not as good.
This was the common opinion until Gorillaz became popular and Americans started pretending they cared about Blur outside of WooHoo
The point is that Blur lived on easy street and Oasis were actually living on the streets. Their whole outlook and personality is defined by their art school upbringings.
Shoegaze was garbage though, music for junkies
And Damon Albarn could never sing lol
Shoegaze killed itself because it had nowhere to go after Loveless, britpop was a very varied genre.
British music was killed because of post-punk revival bands that had almost nothing with britpop
Pulp was the only good britpop because they weren't actually britpop
Murder yourself
>Shoegaze killed itself
How can a genre have killed itself when it's still alive and well? Fucking tard
Wow. You win today’s Tard award.
pulp was musically as different from oasis as blur was. britpop is a vague genre that just means 90s pop rock music made by british people.
>it's still alive and well
lol almost all shoegaze revival bands are boring garbage no one cares about
>tard
Nat an argument
They both had some decent singles... but Oasis albums tend to be good all the way, while Blur's LP's are saddled by a lot of Albarn's masturbatory filler.
>shoegaze
>alive and well
the only notable releases in the past few years have been by the big shoegaze acts trying to capitalize on what they achieved 25 years ago. and most modern shoegaze are just non-subtle mbv ripoffs. it's a stagnant genre that refuses to show any innovation.
>almost all shoegaze revival bands are boring garbage no one cares about
You haven't listened to any of it. Now go back, you stupid faggot.
>britpop is shit shoegaze was much better
I did, nearly all of them sound like poor man's mbv or slowdive
Their comebacks were good though
I like both.
>I did
No.
why don't you list some amazing new shoegaze releases then
>Blur after Coxon
>Not only not pure unadulterated shit, but better than before.
How does it feel? How does it feel to have the worst musical taste known to man?
Ironic you think that, because Blur started out very shoegaze / baggy influenced. They mostly switched off of that because the faggots in those crowds cried they were “stealing” the sound
>Blur sounds dated but Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory’s awful mastering don’t
What?
>Blur after Coxon
What? He was only missing from a tour and some songs off of Think Tank.
>Not only not pure unadulterated shit, but better than before
You might want to try reading that again, I said Magic Whip was enjoyable but NOT amazing. Unless you’re being purposefully thick...
this truly makes no sense, how on earth does blur sound dated but oasis does not? I feel like this is an american opinion
Shoegaze was made by chads who fucked their hot qt band members regularly. Bands that inspired shoegaze like the Stone Roses are popular with britpop listeners. Don’t be a faggot.
